RIGID HITCH INCORPORATED 2,000 lb. Torsional Stub Axles

More budget friendly would be leaf springs and a solid axle. Also spreads out the load more on the frame.

    Anti-theft for overland trailers?

I've thought about having a small sign made and stuck near the hitch that says "If I catch you, I will shoot you".

    Anti-theft for overland trailers?

I am so guilty of that with my trailer.

    Anti-theft for overland trailers?

I've run a heavy chain through the spokes on the wheel on the driver's side, around the leaf spring, and then back to the rim and connected the ends with a heavy padlock. I guess they could steal it but the one wheel wouldn't be turning. They make locks that'll fit the locking pin in the...

Mounting a lifesaver jug to rotopax

As a helpful hint, it is always helpful when you provide a picture or a link as to what you're asking a question about. Is this what you are referring to? Jerrycan Water Purification Containers - Camping, Overlanding - LifeSaver (iconlifesaver.com) If so, it doesn't look like the holes in...

    Trailer Frame Size

You can build a perfectly suitable overlanding trailer that'll take a beating using a trailer frame from Harbor Freight. It is a C-channel frame. The old military trailers had a 41" x 72" tub. Check out this thread of my trailer build: Mini Harbor Freight (type) Trailer Ultimate Build-Up...

To pintle or not to pintle?

So I went to the hardware store today. Found a 3" long pin 5/16" diameter with a hole at the end with a cotter pin. Sold. About $2.50 total. I couldn't find a pin with the little detent balls at the end (something else for me to be on the lookout for). On this Dixon Bate hitch, it comes...

    Overlanding Ovens

Glad I could be of help. If you find a source, please share. It looks like it would work well on a slider set-up. Not being as tall as the others would be a plus in that kind of slide-out kitchen design.

So you can make blueberry muffins or pizza with your jet boil?

    Overlanding Ovens

Yes there's definitely a learning curve when using any of these oven products. I've burned the bottoms of plenty of muffins. Fortunately, everything always tastes better when camping.

I'll throw this one out there because I think it looks cute. Don't know availability, but they must be out there somewhere. Campingaz Camp Stove Oven Camping oven with 2 Burners (ibexcamping.co.uk) This one looks interesting. Definitely doesn't look as tall as the other two combo units...

    Overlanding Ovens

I came across this Hike Crew oven/stove combo recently (a new brand for me); haven't seen it in person but it looks pretty cool. Price is $229 - $249 on Amazon; slightly more elsewhere. And it comes with a carrying bag (which for the Camp Chef costs $75 extra for the carrying bag). They come in...

    Overlanding Ovens

I've also got one of these Camp Chef stove/oven combos. It takes up some space, but it is nice when cooking dinner on the stove and making biscuits in the oven below. Mine's a basic one bought probably ten years ago. They're sold at lots of places (they have basic to fancy models now) starting...

    Overlanding Ovens

I have one of these little folding Coleman ovens (had it for literally decades - they've been around for ages). It works well too and takes up very little space when folded up. To use it you unfold it & lock it in place (takes a minute or so), put the wire oven tray in place, and then put it on...

    Overlanding Ovens

I've had non-camping folks ask me about camp cooking like there was something special or mysterious about it. I always tell them "If you can cook it on a stove or in an oven at home, you can do the same thing when camping". Lots of folks are familiar with camp stoves, but not so much with camp...

To pintle or not to pintle?

I realized I never posted a picture of the two pintle hitches side-by-side for comparison's sake. So here you go: Before I took the picture, I pulled the pin (and cotter pin) that fixes the fork in the up or down position for the next picture. When I put it back, I put it in the wrong hole...
