Atlantic British unrolls Terra Firma 18" steelies for LR3

Spacers not needed to clear anything. Problems from additional stress on the wheel bearings that are not designed for spacers are a problem. If you just want the cool factor of a wider stance perhaps having custom wheels made that have a deeper offset might be a more advantageous solution. The...

Atlantic British unrolls Terra Firma 18" steelies for LR3

Have a set of these and they work well for me. Duratracks 265 65s seem to be best for my use. Still have the stock 19's in storage with Duratracks on them as well. Never thought of spacers, make the base wider but don't see the benefit as this vehicle is weighty enough to be stable. Since I...

My disco makes me want to dance

I have the Tactical rear bumper with swing away tire carrier. Got bigger tires so the spare won't fit under anymore. I was concerned about having the SA carrier on as a DD but after a bit it becomes second nature to get in and out the back. I decided to leave it on all the time. X2 for the...

    Post up your drawer/storage system

Great drawer idea, not really necessary to carry more tools than your vehicle needs unless you carry to fix everyone else that has breakdowns. Skittles are interesting. I think a package of dehydrated beer might be a welcome idea too. ...also the handles are well done.

    ice alternatives for coolers?

In days of olde...we would freeze water in the waxed paper cartons used for milk. When the containers were cleaned and rinsed well they were quite acceptable and then we had cold water and when they were empty they were fire starters. They do take up room but so does ice. Don't see them anymore...

    Favorite LR3 Mod

It is not easy to have a favorite as everything I have done is to make the vehicle work for me. Front runner roof rack, Easyawn shade tarp on right side, ARB front bumper with Warn 12000 lb winch and off road spot/driving lights, ARB fridge (had from previous vehicle) bolted to floor (existing...

    Softshell tents in constant rain

eatsleepWoof, Where did you get that pole setup. Thinking it might be a workable solution to a tarp arrangement over the rear of my LR to access the back for cooking.

BFG - White In / White out

Just happened to be under the LR for some reason. Looked at the tyres...no white lettering at all, either side. Very progressive tyre company. Duratracs.

BFG - White In / White out

This whole issue was actually not very important and I had to look in the garage to see what I had asked for when the new tyres were mounted. I have black rims so the black is out. Tada!

    Project Victory_Overland 08 LR3 Build Thread!

Thanks for the feedback guys. Looking into getting a different hood is as you say ridiculously expensive. I did go with the 3M applied film and am quite pleased with it. Not a difficult process to apply at all.

    Arb fridge

Mine also lives in the LR. unplugged from the aux battery and with the lid propped open with the handle. I also keep a container of baking soda in it when not in use to absorb any lingering possible odors. I clean it after each trip with rubbing alcohol (same stuff we use to clean glass around...

Looking for an '06+ LR3 with HD package...

I think you should put some real money on the table. If you can possibly find one in that range you are going to spend a lot more than that getting it in shape to be safe on the road and elsewhere. I found a 07 HSE for 9500 and still had to contend with hidden issues that cost over $10K Perhaps...

The Snorkel's relevance to North American overlanding

MOguy, Thanks for your response post. I was severely beaten down for calling it a motor once. Never do that again. But still, when you go to the auto parts store to buy the stuff you put in it is called Motor Oil...go figure. I was wondering if I turn my scoop facing back to avoid sucking in...

Moguy, It's called an engine not a motor. Look it up.

The Snorkel's relevance to North American overlanding

The computer for my vehicle is located under the passenger seat so fording extremely deep water is problematic whether I have a snorkel or not. wetting that computer is a total shutdown of the vehicle. I got the snorkel for the dust that I encounter on the trails here. Being in a convoy poses a...

The Snorkel's relevance to North American overlanding

MOguy, You got it. Not into the 'cool factor' and really don't see how one piece of kit on a vehicle either adds or subtracts to that vehicle. I am enormously pleased that I even have a vehicle that goes off road as easily as it goes down a highway. I have gone through Mogs and Pinzgauers and I...
