Finding Premium (high octane) Gasoline in Remote Areas

If you type in 'octane boosting' in the search block (upper right) you will see previous posts on premium fuels in remote regions. Quite a bit of info there and it doesn't look good for your engine.

    front runner ladder- lr4

As one of the posters said..'Never noticed it till I read the post' Same here. It is a straight piece of metal against a curved vehicle part. Never going to be different. As long as it gets me safely up and down I can live with it.

    Basic sewing kit

I used the one from Amazon to repair the fabric top on my Pinzgauer. Works well but a bit tricky. Good choice for a heavy duty sewing job.

    Basic sewing kit

I think for repairs like that you would use a curved needle, most often used for upholstery. The one I use is rather small and works great for tight areas. A local sewing store would be able to kit you up if you tell them what your needs are. Get a thimble as well to push the needle through...

    LR3 aftermarket Snorkel Removal???

I have the ARB and it leaves a lot more holes. I think depending on the one installed and the unsightly mess left it might be better to just leave it on. DD or not. Of course it is your call but with all the holes left it might be better not removed. Never did think of the LR as streamlined and...

Where should I put dual jerry cans on the roof rack?

I had the FR fuel can holder mounted on the FR rack on my LR3 in the center over the second row seats and the 2 Septor water cans in a Baja Rack holder mounted on the passenger side next to them. There is a noticeable weight issue. Then I fabricated a fuel can mount to place them horizontally on...

Swapping diff gears front to back in Reno Wal Mart lot. 84 Toyota on the way to brc.

I knew WM would let folks sleep in their lots for the night but did not know auto repair was possible. Good for you. I have seen Jeeps with diff problems remove drive shaft and run the other working diff to get home. One guy down the street from me disconnected his front diff and did not...

    Engel fidge mounting question

I made a base for mine and used slight depressions for the feet to fit into in the 1/2 inch plywood base and used the mounting holes (with longer screws) to secure it. The feet keep it from moving and still allow the vibration isolation of the fridge design to work. the plywood is secured to the...

Replacing "glow chips" in Campfire in a can

I got a bag of lava rocks from Lowes (less than $4) to replace the ceramic 'logs' and they work fine although the bouncing over rough roads does cause the rocks to lose a bit of dust, but I only used about 1/8 th of the bag so have lots of them left for replacement.

ARB Fridge question - Is it running too long?

I plug mine into house voltage the night before and load up in the AM with cold items from the house fridge. I keep it at 37 deg while traveling and every thing is good for many days or as long as I am traveling, even in the desert temps of 100+ it hardly varies. I run the ARB from an aux...

Minimalist Lightweight Gear ... who else aims for less?

When I was younger I was content with freeze dried yogurt, granola, oatmeal and energy bars but as I gain years it is getting more enjoyable to have real food. Bacon, eggs or sausage in the AM, stew or other meats with vegetables at dinner and good wine or beer, even a more than passable scotch...

Where to find plastic re-usable liquid storage bags?

I didn't miss the point. I thought this was an open discussion on storage and knowing that plastic can be easily damaged and leak I entered a possible alternative.

replacing existing exhaust system on LR3

I am researching exhaust systems to replace the stock LR3 system. Apparently the one that may work for me is from Magnaflo. It has (per the tech there) the turn down tips as the stock system incorporates. It is shown as a cat-back system so the emissions folks will be happy (I hope). Anyone...

    Watches - ExPo Style

My every day and expo watch is from Sportsman guide for $23. Cannot figure how someone can spend more on a watch than a vehicle. Time is told on radios, in vehicles, on iPhones, on billboards, and by looking at the sun. How can one spend $10000 for a watch? Makes no sense to me.
