Those are those stupid little annoyances - what happens if one of the sensors malfunction, stuck? Are there workarounds?

Regarding axles - how did you know they are heavier duty than Jeep and less so than a HD truck? FF vs SF axles is nothing new, it's a really nice option to have FF axles, but many SF axles on all the 1/2T trucks hold up fine as they do on modern LC's, I don't believe the domestic 100/200/300...

Who's building the best 3/4 Ton/ 1 Ton Gas Truck these days!

Can you do me a favor and measure the height of the tailgate in the down position from the ground? I'd really appreciate it!

Let the EU have their BMW diesel, drop a detuned LS or other GM V8 into the IG here....I bet it gets same mileage as the B58 in that squared up boxy rig, heck the 6.4 Hemi in my Ram 2500 gets 14-16. Bigger N/A V8's worked for Toyota and Mercedes for years....well enough that is all they put in...

Like I said, we've had 2 BMW's (X5D and a X5) ZERO issues, great cars beyond a few stupid little annoyances. We've also owned 2 Audis (Allroad and a SQ5) and a VW (Sportwagen Diesel w/6 spd manual), zero issues, great cars. I don't doubt the B58 is a great engine given the context of sports...

It just often gets overlooked, maybe due to it's looks (I agree), but it's a very well sorted platform with a reasonably simple engine. Fuel tank wise they are not even a gallon different with the IG being 23.8 vs GX at 23. Lets be honest, take the modern GX chassis and put a Gren body or...

What's wrong with the current Prado from Lexus in their GX? It's a "global" platform, if not for the engine / body, but well sorted and robust with an extensive track record for being very reliable.....

According to the wiki page, for what it's worth: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ineos_Grenadier "Both engines come mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission (codenamed 8HP51 for the petrol, 8HP76 for the diesel" I think a modern Defender has a good chance of being every bit as reliable...

My guess all along has been $85-90k in the US, it's going to be up there with the LC200's. They are pulling buyers that will spend that IMO. That is not taking into consideration secondary markets, I can see guys getting them for $85k and re-selling for $100k+, like the Bronco's when they...

    INEOS Grenadier

But a Supra and a rig like the Gren have VERY different duty cycles and field requirements....I'd be hesitant to compare one with the other. A lot of my negative, or what is perceived as negative, is just the way I think and the questions I'd personally ask Ineos coming across as me posing...

    INEOS Grenadier

Fair enough - that wasn't directly at you per-se, but the IG is getting all the attention, has a sub-forum for itself, people (in general) are going crazy over it and it's being marketed as a global expedition platform - it looks the part for sure, but I question it's technical merits. I don't...

    INEOS Grenadier

If people rant and rave about it having solid axles (that we don't know the specs of) we can pick on it for having an engine designed for a midsize sedan (that I'll admit we are lacking info on) :) In all seriousness, I'll ask the question in reverse, why is this better than a LC300 or a LR...

    INEOS Grenadier

If the LC300 is in early days then the IG is massivly, with an unproven engine/trans in a platform that is all new. Toyota has years and millions upon millions of hours testing vehicles and a design / testing process that is the best in the world.....they still get it wrong at times with...

    INEOS Grenadier

So an Aussie outback trip is pretty niche use case - wouldn't you be more concerned with engine / trans in an unproven vehicle? Guessing a LC200/300 have proven perfectly capable in the outback and may handle washboard better at the expense of extreme articulation? To answer your second...

    INEOS Grenadier

Forget the axles - IFS/IRS has proven perfectly durable. This rig is not a reincarnated LC70 series, not even close, it uses a complex engine / trans that cannot be field repaired (or repaired effectively at all until we understand the service center strategy).....that will always and forever be...

    INEOS Grenadier

The fact that it's a "8HP" is meaningless. That's like saying I have a "TH" trans in my truck and leaving out if it's a TH200, TH250, TH350, TH400 or TH475....ones is designed for lightweight cars the other for a dump truck. It's the same trans, based on what I've seen, they put in the Supra...

    INEOS Grenadier

Solid axles sell in the expo world (don't ask me why) and make design / engineering a WHOLE lot more simple when you can source an axle complete and just need to weld on spring perches / steering. I don't think a small manuf. could effectively produce an IFS/R rig, a lot more needs to be built...

May just be the perspective of the driveshaft but that rear driveshaft looks to have a compound angle, looks offset side to side and will obviously be up and down as well. May be a stupid question / observation but aren't most OEM rigs just a std. single plane (up and down)?
