    Old's Cool

Upholstery done at a local shop is usually pretty inexpensive. That would be your best best long term.

Help me spec out a new 2017 Tacoma

Some how we've hijacked the thread into some kind of cheap bastich therapy session lol. I too used to drag race cars both track and regrettably street. Bunch of buddies got busted one night I just happened to not go....a couple ended up with some pretty harsh tickets/sentences, one crashed...

Help me spec out a new 2017 Tacoma

I had a 0-60 in 2-3 minutes sticker on the back of my 22re 4runner. I got pulled over once in it doing 55 up a hill in what was apparently a 45; told the cop I didn't know it could go that fast....he let me go.

Universal crankshaft pulley holder - has anyone tried one of these?

Just go get big piece of 1/8th flat stock. Drill 3 holes at one end, two for long bolts and one in the middle to fit an extension through to grab the pulley bolt. Easy peasy and super strong.

Help me spec out a new 2017 Tacoma

Eh the two car plan works great for me.....I have a 60 mile commute (round trip). The Fit gets 40mpg, tires are cheap, long time between oil changes, it can dart around traffic, run for groceries etc. This allows me to keep miles off my expensive to replace 4wd vehicle and leave a bunch of...

Help me spec out a new 2017 Tacoma

Clutch, I recently drove a 15 Utility Package with the 2.7, 4wd, and 5 speed. Power was fine but that's here in TN and I still had to go to 4th to maintain 60 up a smallish grade on the interstate. However, the rpms were quite low at 60-65 which was awesome. If I was towing (even a snowmobile)...

Help me spec out a new 2017 Tacoma

That's another thing I just don't get with the line up. Why can you get a double cab V6 SR 4wd but not an extended cab V6 SR manual with a utility package?! It's maddening! The SR5 V6 is auto only and it's $8,000 more than a SR 4wd Utility package GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. For what? Cruise control and...

Need little advice on 99 sport limited

A filter and fluid changes will likely do wonders. Buy it.

Help me spec out a new 2017 Tacoma

As you mentioned. Mr2, celica all trac, supra, 22ret, lexus ls400, previa (awd supercharged van?!), T100, corolla sr5, prius were all pretty awesome and innovative. Toyota doesn't even try these days in the car or truck market. Ford has at least gone with an aluminum body, turbo charged small...

Help me spec out a new 2017 Tacoma

V6 Regular Cab F150 or Silverado 1500 seems to be a pretty slick truck for the price these days. Same mileage as a 2.7 Taco with nearly double the power and a lower street price..... I like Toyota but they've really stopped innovating. Their whole line up is seemingly a decade old except the...

    Locking hub will not disengage

You'll need to pull back the boot but yes it visibly moves.

    Locking hub will not disengage

What plh said is a much easier and quicker check. On mine it was intermittent when the actuator vaccum switch failed so it took a bit more digging.

Water storage solution for family trip?

I would carry 5-10 gallons depending or your water use and family size and carry a Sawyer two bag type water filter system. I also wouldn't put it on the roof.

    Locking hub will not disengage

Check the front diff actuator. Have someone shift from 4wd to 2wd and check if the actuator is moving.

Is Mountain Biking the Biggest Threat to New Wilderness Designations?

It certainly is. I also ride mountain bike and road for my commute when I lived in a place that was possible. Treadlightly means the same thing to hikers, bikers, and the OHV community. Just a silly ad the same if Jeep had used the phrase. Edit: I realize this is super pedantic and ridiculousness

Help me spec out a new 2017 Tacoma

If you want the double cab v6 I would get an SR with that spec and go aftermarket for the other items.
