Oh and someone asked me about the EGR on my truck... there is no EGR, just a 1" rubber hose that directs the NOx out under the passenger fender. Sometimes people at stoplights roll down their windows and tell me my truck is on fire. :) It's not THAT bad... but sometimes in late afternoon...

It's just part of the bureaucracy. Someone wrote that policy decades ago and applied it to everything from mildly sensitive equipment (i.e. radio mounts, etc) to everything else (crappy old diesels.) There's no emotion behind it. As an Uncle Sam employee, I can tell you that you just get used...

Ohhh maaaan... am I the only one that thinks $32k is a damn reasonable price for such a beauty? Hell, people drive around in $32,000 Honda Accords. $32k is what... $700 a month with a decent interest rate? If that? I could swing that..................I think...:drool::drool:

My mileage numbers (18 city/22hwy) are sitting 3" over stock with bumper/winch. I don't expect the mileage to drop significantly once I add a roof-rack. Worst case scenario I'll pay an expert to tune the injection pump to keep my numbers in that "100% over gas V8" range. I imagine you'll see...

The OM617 is lighter at ~600 lbs... but the 4BT is actually heavier than the 6.2L by about 30 lbs. 6.2s are NOT as big as people think they are. They're about the size/weight of every other gas/diesel motor in their class. GM designed these things to be a plug-and-play factory option for their...

You talkin' about your 2500? Yeah, I'm sure you could boost the 6.2 into 300hp if you wanted to... but like I said for any sort of mild trail/expo build that would be completely unnecessary. Let's not forget the fulltime 4WD and the R380... Don't get me wrong! Seeing a D1 or an RRC with a...

yeah me too dude... plus it sucks being where I am in Savannah, GA. I'm not too big on "wheeling" just for the sake of banging the truck through some nasty **** just to make a 3 mile loop back to a campsite that's a few miles from the interstate that took me there. I guess that's all you get on...

I can't see needing a turbo for this configuration unless you're a pure HP junkie. Now some regearing I'd be interested in playing with -- I have a 5spd and my first is a definite granny gear (good), but my 5th gear needs to be a little taller... this motor will pull the Rover at 70-80 mph...

I've been trying to find some serious, serious mud or sand... I want to see how this motor does in 4L with real traction impediments. I will say that my 6.2 seems to get warm enough for the temp gauge to catch my eye in stop-and-go traffic in hot weather (85F, for example.) I mean, I get it --...

I thought about toying with WVO blends... but I don't want to deal with distilling it and all that crap.. Are you going to install a separate tank and splice the fuel lines together? Or just mix it by hand? I guess it depends if it's a toy truck or a daily driver... it sucks paying $3.89 for...

6.2 or 6.5? All the HMMWVs in our motor pool -- even the older ones -- have the 6.5. All the dirty E Co. mechanics just look at me weird when I ask them about tuning the 6.2L :sombrero: Mine doesn't leak a drop since I got it (3,000 miles so far) -- not a single drop. And I don't do anything...

Red Rover -- my cooling fan is not electric... I also have a custom built aluminum radiator that I can snap some pics of (although they're in the early pages of my thread too.) Sounds like you know what you're doing! I'd love to see if you can tinker with the injection pump to dial up the MPGs...

    My new-to-me 6.2L Disco

I am averaging 18 mpg city with a heavy foot. Highway it'll get 20/22 mpg depending on speed. Motor has no issues currently; replaced a v-belt because it ate one... but otherwise it's been totally reliable. It's my daily driver.

    My new-to-me 6.2L Disco

Nice! Thanks for the link. Cheap motors/parts was a big part of the reason I went after this truck -- I'm kind of a novice mechanic, so it's important that my limited free time be spent wrenching and not searching for parts.

Need: Roof rack (I'll pay the freakin' outrageous price you want for your Safety Devices or CT rack if I can find someone willing to ship one!), sliders, rear bumper, gas tank skid, diff guards, etc. For a '95 DI Whaddya got? I am not spending enough cash on my truck :sombrero:

Post pictures of your Land Rover.

I love this color. What's it called? Is yours just particularly well-waxed and in flattering light? Usually the champagne-colored D1s I see look terrible -- but this has a great warm glow. Dig.
