backup camera with wireless transmitter $70

I've been using a wireless back up camera for several months now and have to say it is very handy. I upgraded to a little higher quality monitor after the initial one arrived with moisture behind the lens and enjoy the better picture. Very handy for backing up and seeing if some fool is tail...

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

I haven't had any issues with overhang as of this time. As I stated before, I don't off road, just back road. Though some of the back roads can be pretty gnarly. I've backed the new hitch extension into some dirt and snow a few times, but that's about it. As far as going longer, I think I...

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

An Alaskan w/o a cab over is a more sealed unit in the winter. In addition, there is X amount of junk, stuff that we take on all our trips eg. the barbecue comes along always. We can either have it off the back and change our departure angle and add extra time to set up, which we do. On the...

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

Of course if a frame is stiff enough and you don't need pivoting points, why bother. I have seen no signs of stress on my camper and we've been over many gnarly back roads in Colorado and elsewhere thus far. Total cost? Probably about what I paid for the truck new.

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

If I had to start from scratch I would probably go with an F550 with a 4" lift and a stretch. I would then have Alaskan build a 14' non cab over. The bed in the camper would remain in the same spot and there would be a ton of storage underneath that area. With that size, I would probably...

Full size flatbed with hard side pop up trailer on top

I looked at going that route, but there are few quality campers out there that would fit your needs other than a Hi-Lo. Way too long at almost 20' for a real Hi-Lo,not a Trail Manor and very heavy. Let us know how it goes though.

Diesel, Ford, Frame Flex, maybe other stuff

Do you have any more information on a new Ford running high sulfur fuel? One thing that will limit a new truck in the future for me is not being able to run fuel south of the border through it. Thanks

    19.5 or 20" rims?

The Goodyear G-124's are awesome tires on the 19.5 inch wheels. They will work on a 550. After a season of winter driving I can say they are the best tires I've had to date. I don't know much about the 20 inch rims except to say the military has dibs on pretty much all new stock of decent...

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

Hi Tom, The Alaskan camper did great this winter and as mentioned earlier was comfortable down to -17 degrees F. The Goodyear G-124's are a great tire and work extremely well in ice, snow and water. They do need to be aired down a bit to get better traction on ice, but that's the way most are...
