I see you’re In CO? Me too. I can chime in a bit. Old truck was ‘13 5.0 f150 3:55with the 5.5 bed. New truck is ‘14 6.2 f350 4:30 with 6.5 bed.
Just got back from a semi cross country road trip...heading east lightly loaded at 80 mph i was revving about 2200ish and able to get over 14 mpg...
I would love to run 37s but they’re so much more money than 35s unless you get lucky on CL. I’m running 33s on my leveled f350 and it looks silly!! Can’t wait to get some 35s. Either way you’re fine.
sorry everyone...didn't mean to stir up the pot so much...
rnArmy- you hit on part of my dilemma, if one is ever in NEED of a long gun why not have one that's up for the task instead of worrying about what other's may think and having one that's maybe not? Things are bad if you're banging out...
So....I never really thought about taking a rifle (or shotgun) while on a road trip until I was cruising the truck gun thread even though when I head out to the backcountry I always do....While in my state,or bordering states, I'm not worried about any kind of legalities...I was curious how many...
I've got an iSUP that I sometimes air travel with. To your point about keeping them inside and off the roof, They're bulky! And so are the storage bags that sometimes come with them. It's nice to be able to stuff your water gear into the bag and keep it all together. If I was going to be bumming...
Explorerinil....Only concerned about Illinois because of the brief reading I did online...After sleeping on it a few nights I've decided to keep it simple and just bring a handgun. Thanks again for the responses. Happy trails...
Thanks Robert! Very kind gesture, it's a Remington.
Grizzlyblake- That's always been my thought in the past....I just started thinking about long guns while traveling last night after going through the "truck gun" posts.
Thanks again
No fuss...just curious. For years a .357 was my copilot. But things are a little different now out in the world. I was curious after going through the "truck gun" topic, didn't realize how many people traveled with a long gun. Thanks
Yes..sleeping in hotels, have a locking system for my truck...
Getting ready to hit the road...Colorado to Michigan. Definitely bringing a handgun, not sure which one...G19 or HK45...? How many of you take a rifle while traveling the interstates? Worried about Illinois! Only rifle I can fit in my bag is a SCAR-H. Thought about a shotgun too, but I would...
I’ve wanted one forever. There’s a 15 footer for sale somewhat locally for $500. Hard to think about buying a canoe in the middle of winter when I really need new xcountry skis!!
I will be putting 35's on my truck soon and I don't want any rubbing. It's a '14 F350 with 2 inch leveling springs. I'm torn between new wheels with the proper amount of offset/backspacing or new control arms. Cost is a minor concern... Any advice is welcome. I have been researching the wheel...
Big camper for sale. Has a slide out for the table area. Table area turns into bed. Bathroom. Kitchen. Onan propane generator with 26 hours. Dual lp tanks. Solar with 2 deep cells. Heater and AC. 2 awnings. Electric jacks. It’s big. I would think that you’ probably want a dually as it’s tall...
Ended up doing a bunch of laps around the block at the auto show in San Francisco last week. There were a few rangers out in the street. I thought they looked great. Didn’t look like the ones on the one Ford video I watched. They must’ve had the fancy models to show off. I’d run one if I could.
I would say keep your truck buy a topper and build a sleep platform with storage underneath, then throw some taller skinny tires on there. If that doesn't scratch the itch then buy a project for cheap and dig in. So many options....
