Colorado was scary easy to get my home-built on the road. Guessed how long, wide, and heavy it was, walked out with a VIN and tag.
Makes me a little worried how many hack-jobs are heading down the road at 80mph! :bike_rider:
That is about where I would expect it to be. Time for that super charger you've always wanted! :D
In all seriousness, I built my trailer to help my life slow down a little and get out into the woods again... so the 10mph the trailer takes off my fj40's already slow speed isn't a big deal.
Put...
Martyn- is that a CA rule? I didn't read anything on that when I got my trailer registered here in CO. That is all I need is Mr. Po Po pulling me over for not spending another 5 bucks on reflectors.
thanks mate!
Killer trailer btw bud!
Hi-jack off/:oops:
Looks like you are off to a good start with a good starting platform to boot!
Remember, you once didn't know how to work with wood either. I learned to weld, then I built my trailer. Welding is as much art as it is science. I bought the book on how to weld, read it cover to cover, bought a...
I love the idea, our Mombassa has that crappy rain fly as well. Although it did keep us dry. I bought some sunbrella fabric I got cheap on Ebay for this kind of mod.
How about a few detail shots of the brackets you made.
Also, maybe cutting the tarp down a bit will help you get everything...
Thank you Ramjet, here is a pic from our last outting... over looking 134 Elk (some dude counted and told me that), a nice valley, and Longs Peak in the background with the seasons first snow on it.
The Rocky Mountain National Park is about an hour from my door to campsites! :D
I'll post up...
Has anyone chopped one of their ladders up to make the rungs fit nicely at the distance your RTT is from the ground on your trailer. Just curious how you went about it.
Cutting mine this weekend and would like to do it right the first time.
AT, I thought I read something about you guys doing...
Maybe you've seen these but this is a nice solution for knives without taking up the space of a huge block. Search for drawer block for knives and you'll get lots of ideas. Or a nice magnetic holder above your stove on the lid might be a space saver too.
Just a thought.
I was able to save a few pics after our camera melt down
I had to photoshop the second one to show it off, my camera only wants to shoot the negative when it reads white.
We have been loving it this summer, this tent, though not HD like some of the others, does the job for room and...
I am loving your build-up bud! Keep it up. Have you thought about doubling up on the top layer of birch to fold out to one side or the other, then you have essentially doubled your "counter space."
Just a thought... I too have spent hours dreaming of the perfect setup!
Rezarf <><
Mine is set up like the one Mario posted up, however, after using mine, I would probably go with the bolt on style verses welding on the pivoting arm thingy...
Mine rocks a little when in the RTT and the bolt on ones seem to be a little more stable when getting up on top.
Just another .o2...
This build is getting cooler all the time. I hope your little rig is up to the task. Any mountain passes in your future? I can feel a huge difference in the hills when towing my trailer! :D
