How fun to read about the same trip from different folks...and very nice to include pics as you go along. A novel idea for Frenchie I take it :)
Thanks for posting, some of your trip is new area to me...looks like I need to get out more
Ok nice blue truck and all....but let's get back to that high quality old iron :)
I love my 70 Burb more every day and always enjoy stopping by this thread to see what you have been up to with your classic.
Keep on traveling and posting so more people will save these rides.
super easy to put a small mag mount antenna on those little baofeng radios
I have a setup with a hand mic, mag antenna and cig charger I loan on the trail....maybe $50 into the entire setup
I try to avoid to big a lift, makes garages and general parking more of an issue, raises your center of gravity and makes getting in & out of doors, bed area tougher.
And going from a 33in to 34in tire only lifts your axle 1/2 an inch. If you are not dragging on ruts or rocks then save the lift...
Great writeup and pics...
Looks like an epic place with some very cool history. I wonder how I would have done in those days under those conditions.
Thanks for taking us along
I have run Extreme Outback on 3 different rigs and will never own anything else.
Mounted to frame rail under Suburban, 2 gal tank, doesn't care about weather, mud, rocks or anything else. It just works and works really really well.
Plus George & Tamara are the best people you will deal with...
Amazing pics, and thanks for letting us share in your adventure.
My kids still talk about trips they did at that age...and my oldest boy is 25 :)
Once you set a tone of travel like this it is great to see when they are old enough to travel alone and keep the spirit going.
Enjoy the time while...
Goodwill or other thrift stores along with garage sales are a great way to setup dedicated camping items.
I keep my Suburban pretty much half loaded all the time as after a trip the camp kitchen pelican, chairs, tables and a bit more go right back under the sleep platform.
Sleep pads, sheets...
another great family outing of yours for me to enjoy, big thanks for taking us along.
I have not been through Wy much and I can see it is worth the trek north...just not in winter :)
Great pics as always and thanks again for posting.
well being a desert dweller I have to say all that water is very cool to see....actually alot of it looks really cold :)
I like the variety of landscape you went through and thanks for taking us along.
Great pics....and looking forward to hearing about the people you have met along the way, what you would recommend others do different and anything else to tell more of the tale of this adventure.
Keep it coming.
That video clip in the article looked pretty good.
Nothing too hard core of course but good enough for a bunch of people to be happy.
Wonder what the out the door price is?
Wow Todd, those are super kind words...
What Todd didn't mention was that I tend to "fly" my Burb around on Baja trails :)
I promise I will do my best to get some pics of the springs and shocks tomorrow and post to this thread, something close up.
The way I handled my setup was to go to an...
Not to be mean but this is what I have run into on my trips....
Usually water is coming out of some kind of tap or pump...so I need a container to capture it in....the usual 5 gal scepter/jug sort of thing.
Folks are either waiting in line with you or standing around watching you do this.
So...
Wow, looks like I need to get east of Arizona here and spend more time in New Mexico
Thanks for the pics and write up.
Best time of year to play in this area??
