great trip with your son...those are the memories that will matter later in his life.
Good job on the pics and writing, looking forward to more of your outings, thanks
Mike my friend...
great to see you here on expo.
I actually had a nursing student that knows you from the Ambo world down south :)
We gotta get together for another Baja blast my friend.
Coban is amazing tape..
It sticks to itself, not to you.
The stuff at pet stores is the same just cheaper :)
Wash the wound, put on triple ointment if a kid or whining adult (makes people feel better mentally), gauze and coban....
Dry is more important than dirt...the coban and gauze will keep...
I am an ICU RN and Wilderness EMT so I see it all in the urban setting and outdoors.
1) No more hydrogen peroxide folks....use google and you will see that is an old school thing. It actually kills your cells also. Just water, lots of water to wash the wound bed.
2) Covered wound during the day...
while I don't have that model I have been very very impressed with the BF radio I do have.
Beat it up on moto rides, in the 4wd and more, never an issue.
great pics and nice to see a family out and about exploring...
and you took the dog which has its own issues...good on ya :)
looking forward to more and please keep the great commentary coming with the pics.
great trip write up and very nice to see how you kept your cool with all the issues...
bad fuel, changing filters, lift pump o-ring....and then the injectors, valve and engine lockup while towing...and with all that you still sound positive, good on you sir :)
I like the route you took and at...
Too funny Mal....I was wondering why I was enjoying your trip report so much.....actually didn't realize it was YOU :)
Guess I should have looked closer at the family pics, just feel creepy if I look at other peoples families too much!
I really understand what you mean about the trip report...
Great write up and I am really looking forward to the rest of it...
I actually like that you are doing it in stages so I can read it in stages and not just zoom through.
Scary reading about that recovery gone wrong...and very cool of the local 4wd club to let you join.
The great mix of 2 lane...
Howdy Sir,
I am glad I got you see your Burb rolling out of Expo, that thing is mean looking on 35's....oh if only I could squeeze that much meat under my wheel wells without any more lift.
You are blessed with the Arizona Strip and more near you, looking forward to getting up your way for...
Great thread...
Congrats on getting married, a great wife can make a great life my friend.
The rig looks very nice and better that you are out there enjoying it.
My 70 Burb has more modern motor/trans and I love the mix...best of both worlds.
That said I really hope you are not in for a motor...
I have a blast chasing the Vintage stuff in the Mexican 1000
Enough so that I posted on Race Dezert in the Vintage group if anyone needs chase for Vegas to Reno.
Glad you are going as I love Baja and always happy to see anyone else enjoy it also.
If you want to try Garmin devices then craiglist is your friend...
lots of deals on Nuvi's and other car devices for cheap money.
Just take it outside and plug it in to make sure it picks up satellites, do a quick route check and then hand over the $50 or so.
Make sure you get one with power...
could you take some more pics and post a bit more detail on the window fan...
here in the inferno of Phoenix I think that would be a killer thing to have for sleep time
thanks
amazing the transformation for the two of you as a couple and for the van....I am sure it was tear you hair out frustrating but the fact that you are on the road now while the rest of us are pounding on a keyboard is the real testament.
Good on you and I hope your trip is everything you hope...
That is a strange but cool trailer...
Never seen anything like it but the "tatical" plate makes you Uber-Overlander Cool Guy....even Expo white to top things off.
The diesel tank on board is a hoot for long distance travel or switch it to gasoline so all the motos can stop by your little...
Funny how we get known for our rigs as much as anything else....Sportsmobiles, Fuso, certain 4wds, they become our calling card :)
Great chat and always happy to play on the dirt with ya anytime.
All in all it was another great desert adventure with some old friends and new ones...
We came from Colorado, Arizona and California and plenty of great memories were made.
For me it was a short jaunt squeezed in after the Overland Expo but worth the long highway miles.
Big thanks to my friends...
