Scott are you looking to fly in & out for this event or is it part of something larger?
I am really debating on using some frequent flyer miles to get back to A&A for a few days.
Well I have owned a Landcruiser Troopy which I thought had a bunch of space until I got my 70 Suburban.
Love it everytime I drive it or even look at it.
There is enough space in the back that my wife and I sleep comfy plus have more space than gear to stuff under the sleep platform.
Not only...
Been there a few years before...
The campgrounds are as cool or cooler than the show since you see rigs in action :)
Plus all the cool homebrew mods people do.
Most vendors sell on site which sucked for me as there was some cool cheaper versions of Zargas cases that I wanted but we were...
I think it would be more fun to just have folks set things out in their campsite, thus encourage people to move around the camp area and check out cool rigs.
The problem with a set area is then you have to have shade, sit there and watch your stuff and miss out on classes and presentations.
Keep...
great write up and amazingly cool pics...
I really like the way it was done but even more so I am impressed with your story. Thanks for letting us have a look into your story.
Ok so only a couple of things that make me cringe...
$6850 is the entry fee....yeah that goes to the Phoenix Art Museum but that is more than most "vintage" owners will want to pay
The event is to celebrate Arizona right?
So why use a stock image of a Defender in Morocco? That is the info about...
Great write up and pics...
very cool to get out there with your daughter and these are the stories that you two will laugh about for years to come.
Glad the vehicle issues were overcome and sounds like you kept your cool while the rig didn't...that is strong work as I often get very frustrated...
TRIP PLANNING THREAD
Make sure he post up a trip planning thread here and maybe a jeep forum you guys are on..
Just like others mentioned this will give me some folks to can be resources along the way.
On Advrider there is a tent space thread that someone could use to travel and have a nice bed...
Like so many other companies they have such a fancy website I can't view it from our crappy IE whatever here at work.....but thanks for the heads up as I will check it out at home.
I really like Oziexplorer which is free, and Delorme Topo which is a one time charge....looking forward to trying...
I have my 70 Burb setup with 4 sections.
2 behind the back seats with lift up lids to allow access when inside the vehicle and 2 in the back with the tailgate down.
This means I only have to deal with a small section when getting things instead of a big wide long drawer.
I have driven during and after rain and it could have been called the Canal del Diablo.
Looks like a good time with great people and I am eagerly awaiting the rest of the tale.
I have run 2 sets of these on an 11,000lb Sportsmobile 4wd Van that did Moab, Baja washboard and lots of other fun.
Never had any issues and loved them.
If it wasn't for the price I would have them on my current rig but I went cheap instead and I now prefer tall skinny tires.
Go for them if you...
really great pics and big thanks for putting together a trip report that is also an excellent resource for folks coming along behind you
enjoy your travels and please keep us along for the ride
My SMB was 11,000lbs and just would not pull itself around without BOTH front tires working...
I would always try without the front locker but I remember that many times I would need to lock to make it happen
Lucky for me I never did this method more than 10 times when I owned that rig and...
I did it a few times in my SMB...but it feels strange and isn't something I would do all the time.
The method was simple,
be in 4wd lo range
Lock the emerg brake
shift the rear drive shaft into neutral
turn on front lockers,
crank the wheel but NOT to full lock
ease on the throttle and be...
