And before anyone thinks "ooooh I got him!" and writes a comment about how I called out someone else using "brand loyalist" as an attack while using the phrase myself.... go look for my posts on the Jeep or Toyota forums where I go out of my way to crap all over those cars. Oh wait, they don't...
Actual reliability concerns - as in real-world examples, are already being discussed on the news thread. Unsubstantiated speculation from armchair mechanics is being vomited all over this thread, though. This thread is called "rage/hate" and started off with a bunch of "herp a derp it looks...
I find it really amusing when someone trolls for pages and pages, spouting blatantly false statements and petty nonsense, and then acts like a victim and accuses the admins of Land Rover bias when people on the Land Rover section of the forum get frustrated and annoyed by the constant...
Thinking 37s are necessary for overlanding gives me a good chuckle. Stick to the OHV skate parks with half buried concrete culverts so you can play around in your Tonka toy truck.
His commentary was intellectually dishonest. He criticized both the wheel size and the lack of a rear locker - both of which can be addressed with configurations available direct from the factory.
And you are guilty of the same thing here - acting like a 20 inch rim is the off road spec. It’s...
If you are going to make up fake bets to try to act tough on the internet, at least make them believable. You should have offered to buy a case of beer or something.
Man, look at that uppity rich person's neighborhood, with all those bougie businesses like... checks notes Walmart, Chevy, Ford, GMC Preowned, Discount Tire, and Budget Car Rental.
Just stop, you're embarrassing yourself.
Except for the fact that this situation has absolutely nothing to do with LR, and caused by the decisions of independently owned dealerships.
JLR made something for the 4WD community, regardless of what a minority of haters say on the internet. The dealers just know that lots of other people...
Some of the first spy shots that ever came out for the Defender were literally wheeling in Moab. They used footage on Hell's Gate in many of their promotional videos.
Yeah, no... most of the Defenders in the US are SE trim and above, with the expensive six cylinder mild hybrid and a bunch of appearance driven, costly upgrades. There are a lot of $70k+ Defenders on Autotrader, when you could equip an S with all the off road and towing goodies for $10k less.
I've been defending (ha!) Land Rover a lot in this thread, but I have some rage/hate of my own to share....
There is absolutely no way to search for an in-stock Defender equipped with the rear locking differential anywhere in the US, and if there were a way to search for it, you would probably...
He is complaining that it has 20 inch rims and no locking Rear diff... but you can buy it with smaller rims and a rear locker.
Seems like he either didn’t do his homework or is just trolling for attention by intentionally ignoring the possible configurations of the rig.
I'm really excited to hear more news about the plug-in hybrid. I've seen mixed reviews of PHEV on other Land Rover models, but I hope that JLR will optimize for mountains of torque when they release the PHEV. Here's hoping for a announcement soon.
It's worth pointing out that, according to comments on the video, this Defender was still not equipped with the rear locker. I am really looking forward to seeing a new Defender on 18" steelies, good grippy tires, with a rear locker getting into some nasty stuff. Hopefully as peoples' custom...
Or, you know, the dealers order expensive builds because they know they will sell, especially early when people are desperate to get their hands on them, so they are trying to maximize profits. They are going to add on all kinds of extra crap that people don't need, because they know people who...
This is patently false. You can order the base level Defender with nothing but a rear locker and off road tires. The problem is that the dealers (and apparently the people making the videos who did order their own) are not ordering them that way.
It really frustrated me to see an accomplished 4x4 trainer pulling such an unfair comparison and making such a trollish statement while providing minimal details on the rig in question. It's almost impossible to find a Defender built with the rear locker in the US right now (I've tried), and...
