People put $1000 down and waited over 2 years for Adventure Trailers to build the Habitat top....for a crowd source funded start up that has moved from India to China I think they are doing alright.
I would rather they focus on building the thing right the first time than hanging out on a forum...
I am putting a 6.2 in my 70 Burb so been doing lots of research....pretty much what was said above about simple preventive maint and the balancer.
Then just use the rig for a while and get to know it. Don't go crazy on mods until you get a feel for driving, camping and enjoying the burb. They...
I am really enjoying this thread and the daily updates....thank for taking the time to let us follow along with the good and bad sides of this.
Who knows how many of us could end up doing the same thing if the economy takes another nose dive.
For anyone worried about water let me tell you a story...
When I killed my Sportsmobile my 3 batteries were 2 feet underwater and the rig was stopped dead.
Then I used my Ramsey winch (which was a foot underwater) and winched my rig up out onto dry land.
Everything worked perfectly during and...
Funny how the hype is toned down just when they get to the more serious off road stuff.
But I will say I enjoy Part 4 more because it is a bit more realistic and let's folks see themselves doing the same trip in their Rover.
What a great thread....I am going to enjoy this one.
Fun Urban Adventure and thanks for giving the real details just in case any of us need to do something like this.
Fun read and thanks for posting
WOW what Brian wrote should go on the Overland Expo website...great stuff there.
My thoughts for what they are worth after that...
Camp onsite...you will see so much cool stuff just walking around camp and save so much time & effort moving back and forth it is worth it. Even if you are just day...
Now we are getting to some meat....
Great to see the Subi out in the dirt and actually doing something.
Looking forward to more trip reports and updates from a rig that anyone could afford and enjoy
Rotate drivers???
Precipitous tight switchbacks....that people in RAV4's and AWD Elements also barely survived I imagine...
Turtles and farmed bison...how did the escape such terrors?
Treacherous washouts....ok they why are the only pics posted of flat, gravel roads my RC car could handle?
This...
Hey you need someone to fly out and drive it back????
I think I could work up some free time to make it happen...maybe drag one of my sons along to test out the various seats as we go along :)
What a cool rig and congrats....looking forward to what you do with it.
Hey Mark....the text of the updates was posted into this thread...
As with the new reality shows it is all over hyped drama instead of honest "go and play, look how easy it is"
HAHAHAHAHAHHA
To funny to read how they try to "epic" it up...
The TAT is no harder than the Continental Divide trip I did from Canada to Mexico...it is a dirt road drive that someone in a RAV4 could do following these guys.
Great that they are having a fun mega media adventure. But stop with...
yeah Mark I would go for that...
Worse case I can use it to put up shade in the back yard around my son's smithy for when we are both forging.
I can pick it up at the Overland Journal Open House Sept 7th.
If you need money before then I can paypal you.
Good job figuring this out.
Part of me...
I love that this thread is over 220 post....we all really need to spend more time in the dirt and less on the computer....myself most of all.
I mainly view Expo at work during downtime. Oh how I need to work less and play more.
