Funny you brought this up as I was at Home Depot today and looked at the extending painting poles for just this sort of thing.
Looking forward to what you put together.
Gonna be another fun year at the Prescott Rally ....I hope to get Road Block 1 again as I like the shelf roads.
you can go to ih8mud.com and get info in the 70 series section from actual owner.
also 4wdaction.com forums will get you real world info...
toyota of gibraltar I think had good info on their website
Well I work in a huge hospital with lots of electronics and OF COURSE I want the best and newest to save my life....
BUT WE AREN'T TALKING ABOUT URBAN MEDICAL CARE ARE WE?
This is a discussion of "feeble" Series Rovers not being up to snuff for the OP to go "modern exploring" so he picked an...
Big ol' bump for a rig I have seen in person a number of times and always liked.
Folks this is a ready to camp rig that would be great for anyone wanting more space in the backcountry and to be 100% protected from weather.
Good luck with the Sale and can't wait to see the replacement in...
Curb wgt is 16,000lb !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow that is HUGE.
My old burb has a curb wgt 1/4 of that and I thought is was heavy....my loaded trail wgt is 6500lbs which seems light compared to what my Sportsmobile was at 11,000.
I really like that seating setup and I can't wait to pop over and...
I love how the Land Ops guys had to call in a flat bed tow truck due to failed sensors that turned this modern rig into imobile trail art.
The most advanced part of my rig is the radio :)
Don't worry about posting pics of the rig with your company logo....it is part of a build and as a moderator I can say that no one should complain.
$1500 seems like a steal for that rig...nicely done.
I can tell you first hand that the Howell stuff is worth every penny. They do top notch stuff and the customer service is great.
It would be easy to spend that money again without a second thought, great company.
Oh and killer rig you have there, one of my favorite old school rides.
I was wondering if this would end up as another long forgotten Expo project....So much gets started and hyped then dies off when something else new and interesting comes along.
Looking forward to some trip reports.
No diesel yet....planned conversion about this time next year.
I have all the parts lined up but I don't want to have the rig down for a long time.
And to keep this post on topic when it comes to older rigs I think for a very resonable cost you can bring many aspects up to a modern and...
So today while working with my sons on getting my 70 Suburban ready for the paint shop it struck me just how scary it is tearing down a vehicle and the worries about what you will find.
Also it seems when you ready through build threads on older rigs it is the big "project pause for paint" that...
Amen on the $12 bucks being a great deal to keep idiots from shooting up the place like so much else in Arizona.
Thanks for the report and I look forward to getting the family out there.
so sorry, totally forgot to look...problem with surfing Expo at work :)
Just put a reminder in my phone to check when I get home from being on-call tonight.
I guess we think in terms of what we hear you talk about and post about...like the Trek Disco and I think there were some Range Rovers or newer Land Rovers in there. So it makes it seem like you go through more rigs than maybe you really do.
I think I get some of what you are saying...my 70...
Not bitching Matt....just friendly poking around the camp fire just like I would do in person if you called a Series Rover "too feeble for modern day exploring".
First I would jump on the feeble thing but actually I would be more interested in this term "modern day exploring".....
What makes...
