    Am I being ridiculous?

I love that drive. Southern Idaho can be kinda ugly, but once you hit highway 93 it’s freaking gorgeous. Of course Moab is always a favorite. I never knew red rock could be so pretty until my first trip out that way.

    2500/3500 Ram/Chevy/Ford??

I wouldn’t either. What configuration is that? Doesn’t sound like a 2500 with Cummins or a PowerWagon. Could be, but I’m skeptical. If it is that’s awesome.

    2500/3500 Ram/Chevy/Ford??

Neither a 2500 Ram with a Cummins nor a Powerwagon will have very much payload which is what you desire when loading a truck up with tons of gear. The heavy diesel motor eats up quite a bit as does the lighter rating of the softer suspensioned PW. If you’re going Cummins go 3500. A 6.4 2500 non...

    UTV Overlanding?

I can fit 2 coolers, 10 gallons of gas, a small 2200 watt generator, a small tool kit, and a single gear tote tote in the bed for now. Considering building a bed extender to add a little bit more cargo space on bottom. In the cargo rack will be stored clothes in dry bags, camp chairs, a spare...

    UTV Overlanding?

So work has been crazy the last few months, and time to work on things has been very limited. I’ve had a couple weekends here lately to work on things though. I ran out of 1 1/4” tubing, which I was planning to use for the crossbars for the tent rack though. If I can make it by the steel yard...

    ?’s about options on a custom order 2020 Ford F-350 6.2L gasser

OP if you can get the 12,400 GVWR package. It’ll give you over 4500 lbs of payload on that setup, and would be highly beneficial for a camper setup.

    ?’s about options on a custom order 2020 Ford F-350 6.2L gasser

I can see with this. The latest revision of the 5.0 and the 10 spd in the F-150s have had some teething issues.

    2019 Ram 2500 or 2020 Ford F-250???

I specifically ordered my F-350 so I could get it without the sunroof. Besides that option I could’ve lived with a few trucks off the lot.

    35" or 37" tires on a DD F350 or Ram 3500

I’m running 37x12.50s on my 17’ F-350 with a stock suspension. I can’t see going 35s on these trucks. I lost a little mileage and acceleration at first, but deleted it and gained it all back. It drives as well as it did stock. That’s 21k behind me. Truck is barely squatting 1” below level...

    JDay's 2018 F250 Powerstroke Build

Good looking rig JDay! We’ve talked a little over on Arfcom. We’ve taken the wife’s 4Runner down the Black Gap Rd at Big Bend, as well as CO, and NM a bit as well. My truck usually the tow pig for the other toys.

    F250 front springs

The new trucks have considerably more clearance than the previous trucks. Quite a few 250s around here running around with bumpers and no issues. I’m running a 17’ 350 SRW with heavy bumper and no issues.

    GBlack 2019 F250 build out

Good looking rig. I couldn’t find a suitable rack for my 17’ 350, and ended up building one for it. Report back how it goes in Moab!

? for F 250 owners - options mods etc on custom ordered 2019 or 2020

Oh yeah one of the biggest advantages of the long bed crew cab is the 48 gallon fuel tank. The short bed crew cab only has 34 gallon tank, but most report not being able to get more than 30 gallons in it. That extra 14 gallons makes a huge difference when pulling or carrying any significant weight.

? for F 250 owners - options mods etc on custom ordered 2019 or 2020

OP you don’t want to chose the 9900 lb option if you plan on an in bed camper. Honestly you probably don’t want a 250 either. The 350 single wheel will give you much more payload legally, even though the truck can be equipped identically in a 250. An XL 250 crew long bed FX4 gasser will have...

? for F 250 owners - options mods etc on custom ordered 2019 or 2020

He He’s not speaking of payload. He’s speaking GVWR which is 10k, 9900, etc. Basically the total weight the truck is allowed to have on its axles including the weight of the truck. Both the Lariat and XL can have the same GVWR. Just the lariat will weigh more, so less payload left from that...

? for F 250 owners - options mods etc on custom ordered 2019 or 2020

3.31, 3.55, and 4.10 are all diesel gears. 3.73 and 4.30 are the only options for the 6.2

Buy new F350 or restore older 7.3?

While you’ve ridden in one I drive one. No they do not get substantially better mileage than a 6.2. Unloaded they get 2-4 mpg better, and loaded they get approximately the same mileage. Maybe 1 mpg better if they’re lucky. That’s not substantial. 16 mpg out of a 6.7 with any kind of load is...

The 6.7 will use just as much diesel, but at a 20% premium in fuel prices.

    Considering a F550 with singles

You could always buy a F-450 pickup (not cab and chassis), and start from there. You’ll have the larger turbo and 450 HP tune from the factory. I can’t really see the benefit of the 550 over the 450 in your scenario. I’d think either would be more than adequate. Of course you’ll only get 4.30...

Buy new F350 or restore older 7.3?

A newer 6.2 will absolutely handle a 3k camper and car hauler with a 5-6k Jeep on it no problems. Especially if you go with the deeper 4.30 rear end. I drive a tuned 17’ 6.7, and wouldn’t have any issue pulling the combo you’re talking about with the gasser.
