Full size is the only way to go IMHO. Which brand is a toss up they all break or have some issue. If it was me I would get a Ram Power Wagon in the Tradesman package and put a FWC Hawk pop up shell on the back which would fall in your price range new. The FWC could do double duty as a storage...
I agree with this post and with other points made in this tread.
I believe to many camper/trailers have become over complicated, to heavy and way to expensive for what is really needed. Just as I don't need a 3500 square foot house I also don't need a $35K camping rig to enjoy the great...
Great to see a restoration of a old school hardside TC. I have a old sales brochure of '87 Squire TC has some basic specs info of the LS3000 and other models. I was going to toss it out but if you would like it PM your address and I will send it too you.
Here's a pic of my future adventure truck.
My plans for this truck is to haul a hardside TC. I'am leaning towards a Baja style TC something like the new Northstar. Hopefully they will come out with a longed version of it, if not will look at doing a custom build.
After seeing that PW with the 4wheel pop up at Expo I had found my dream truck but it was not really enough truck for my needs. I'am a workkamper and live full time in a 5th wheel RV and needed a truck capable of towing 15K.
So I ended up buying a 2015 Ram regcab longbed 4X4 dually with CTD...
I don't know anything about them but see quite a few come through the Grand Canyon and they look pretty good. Looks like that model would weigh over 2K lbs by the time you have it loaded up for travel, not sure what the Tundra's payload is but I'am sure that would be pushing it's limit.
I think there is a market for the Baja style camper. I like what Northstar is doing with the Vista and I hope it is a success for them. What I'am looking for is a long bed version of the Vista for my 1 ton reg cab dually Ram. It must not be longer than the bed of the truck since I plan to tow a...
Sounds like you found a nice combo that will fit your needs. I wouldn't feel bad about making compromises to accommodate the wife's needs. I have made more than a few changes on camping rigs over the last 40 years due to changing circumstances some have worked out better than others. The wife...
Once my wife gets moved down here to the canyon (which is about 3 weeks from now) this is one of the many places on the list to go explore. Thanks for the pics.
I will show up around noon Friday and leave about noon Sunday. Are you camping with the FJC crazies this year? Just talked to Ace Brown he is going to be with the TCT guys, don't know if there will be room left by the time I can get there. Have a safe journey.
Couple items for sale
I have a Trasharoo to sell, slightly faded black (they all fade) but in good shape $15. Trasharoo is spoken for by1v6pony.
Also have a Garmin Rino 530HCx GPS with 2-way radio. I used it once at a training class. Comes with charger, USB cable, manual and carry bag. New...
It's been quite cold, windy, rainy/sleet/snow most of this week here at the Grand Canyon (weather here is similar to Mormon Lake) but the extended forecast is good for the Expo, weather starts getting better starting tomorrow. Like we say here if you don't like the current weather wait 15...
