All depends on what you want and how much you want to spend. If you want something fairly inexpensive with a built in switch and it can rotate up and down, you could try these.

They are available...
I used heavy duty paper (like you might roll out on the floor if you're painting. First a rough cut, then taped in to the door. Marked edges with a sharpie, cut where I could etc until it felt right. Then traced onto birch plywood. Trimmed/sanded as needed.
I made mine with the doors...
I've lifted vehicles from the rear hitch with a hi lift as well but it's generally not a smart idea, as you have no lateral stability unless it's secured another way.
I use and love front runner flat packs. The fold totally flat when not in use. They're semi rigid, rectangular shape so they stack easily. Carry handles on them. Clear label pockets on the front to identify them. They aren't huge but I find that generally we (wife and I and two kids) can...
There are a number of lubricants for stainless fasteners that definitely help. A couple important tips are to go slow (install by hand), lubricate threads, use the shortest practical bolt, don't over tighten. Nylon lock nuts can especially be troublesome because the extra friction can cause...
Possibly but how will you mount them with an air gap? Once they are out in the heat they almost melt, they flex so much. They start “cupping” and deforming where the cells are due to heat and then the internal circuitry fails. I had an idea at one point to mount them to a...
Mine lasted about a year. Lots of people on wanderthewest forum had them and had similar results. 1 year +/-
Sure wished they lasted longer. Loved them. Now I have 45lbs of panels on my van roof and probably as much weight to mount them, rather than just 12lbs of flexible panels.
I used heavy duty 2” wide velcro to hold the flexible panels on my four wheel camper and they never budged. Even at 70mph with a 30+ mph head wind. But it holds on tight, so I’d expect you’ll break the circuitry in the panels when you try to take them off. Good news and bad news though...
If you give up on looking for a single device, consider using something like an isotherm water heater. The slim square has a 750w 110v heating element and a heat exchanger so you can run coolant through it to heat water. Especially if you have factory rear heat, that's a no brainer. I'd think...
I have a couple in my sprinter, mounted to recessed L track. Don’t mind the sideways picture, no clue why the forum does that. They are a good value for a couple captains chairs, nice to have the foot rest and latch anchors. They have a fairly small profile as well so it’s easy to walk around...
Thinsulate is great stuff, Hein is great to work with and very helpful. I’m just finally starting the interior of my sprinter but here’s what I’m doing.
I’m using Raam mat sound deadening on large panels (foil back butyl stuff), 1/2” thick thinsulate (sourced from a clothing place) glued to...
If you were just st Josh’s, you saw that we cut his roof pretty far back, right back to the frame around the rear doors if I remember right? No issues with his, I wouldn’t be concerned about trimming that back.
Have you looked at some of the handicapped ford vans that have lifts in the...
Buy a high roof transit or sprinter like the cool kids do. Ride your bikes right in. You'll miss the cool factor of the Ford 4x4, but not for long. ;)
There is a nice shift change in the attention too. GUYS used to drool all over my ford van and want to see it. But the GIRLS love the...
What's the confusion? Wanted someone to do the work for you? Lol
Yes they are different as stated. Maximum frame side rail section is clearly listed differently (at least for the years I briefly looked at), axle specs and spring specs etc are in there too.
I think most attachment points...
The flexible solar panels don't last. I had 3 of them, and a lot of forum members used them on four wheel campers. After a year or so most of them seem to have failed and finally got recalled. They were great for a while. Super low profile and light weight. But they were heat and cool and...
For what it's worth since the thread was revived. I had no issues with this setup. The only downfall I think was having the starter battery and house batteries in different "climates" and no temp sensors.
On my current sprinter build I went with a ctek d250s with smart pass, and 300 watts of...

I have nothing but great things to say about Taylor and Gretchen. We rented one of their sportsmobile vans and it was clean and VERY well stocked. Great people to work with. I'm not sure they have a 4x4 rental(?) but...
