Well it definitely looks like a comfy bed. It's tough to get something comfortable above an E series for sleeping. I was looking at the fiberine super camper, which probably similarly high, but narrow at the top.
I would say that mileage is pretty good, considering.
Rigid sells DOT fog lights too, which have a pretty sharp cutoff, wide pattern. Just another option to mount low and fill in the close field without blinding people. Otherwise I'm also for upgrading head lights with something that has a good cutoff and aiming them properly, so you're not...
The basic factory power options make it so nice. Mine came with cruise/tilt, power windows/locks/mirrors, keyless entry, towing mirrors etc. I actually had a power driver's seat too but ditched it in favor of the Sienna seats. The one thing I settled on was the sliding door, which I've come to...
The only comment I have is, don't be afraid of the sliding door. I didn't want one either at first. But I've grown to love it. It does make a little noise, but it's much less noise then every barn door e series I've ridden in. Plus you get a great view out that window (and it opens for...
Oh yeah it will be bigger alright! I was a almost surprised after we got mine together. I won't be back in town until the 10th so I'd suspect you'll be up and running by then. If not I'll try to swing in when you're around.
Great photos! That transmission lift sure looks handy. MG man handled the transfer case on my van while I threaded a couple bolts. That looks waaaaay better. Josh's shop would spoil anyone who is used to working on things in the driveway. After working on my van at his place, the LAST...
I don't know about mileage change with the 5 star tune. I never plan any performance mod to increase mileage, it's all about drivability for me. I installed 4x4 and tires and tune pretty much all at once. Quickly re-geared to 4.56 as well. Been averaging 10mpg in town and 12mpg highway...
How do the second row (sliding door and opposite) fit in the sprinter vans with CR Laurence windows? Is the body structure the same, so the covers fit the same?
My 2011 e350 with v10 and 5 speed auto has 4.56 gears and 35s. Solid 10mpg in town and 12mpg highway around here (60-70).
Tons of power. Very quick. It will be for sale soon but not for anything close to the 20k you might see old quigleys go for. ;)
Also interested. I've read some good reviews about redhead as well.
Although I've gone through remanufactured steering racks in other rigs (where new wasn't available) and they were all junk. All big box store generic stuff though. The reman units felt worse than my worn out 50k+ mile units...
Low gears are your friend. On big mountain passes the engine will scream in second gear. It will do it, but it won't be fast.
Personally I'd look for a later v10 IF you can find one. More power, much better transmission (also cheaper to convert to 4x4 with the 5 speed auto), and gas...
Sweet deal!
Diesels can be funny. Even the little 2.0l TDI that was in my wife's 210 VW golf got much better when I drove. I'm more aggressive and run it harder at higher RPM. And the engine loved it. I actually pulled and enclosed (and loaded) uhaul trailer with it from Kentucky to Oregon...
In all seriousness, I would personally just leave it. It's nice having something doesn't attract extra attention when you want to blend in. Just my opinion though. ;) I've had a couple rigs that attract way too much attention, people would pace me on the highway and take pictures, follow me...
