While I was at the dealer yesterday I crawled under a Rubicon with the electric sway bar disconnect.
Cool idea but that little gear motor....failure point. Is it possible with airbags to design a sway bar disconnect with pins we could pull off road? I have used this before but only on front...
That was another option I was thinking of but I have ZERO experience with it. Do not get me wrong, this old guy can learn new tricks :). I was going with the quick in a package option, maybe for ease...LOL. Like ANYTHING is "easy" in this process. THANKS!
A general....how hard or easy is...
Well that did not go as expected.
After the last road trip it was time to do what I had been putting off, drive to my dealer to have some recalls taken care of and have the speedometer calibrated. All the research I did over the last few months and that was the only option for the speedometer...
AGREED.
They are on the list just ran out of time for this trip. I want to make something VERY functional and hopefully look decent. ?.
Yet another DIY project!
The plan is to Raptor liner the front and underside of the storage boxes also.
MAYBE the lower part of the door. Jury is still out...
We did not fall off of the planet, we just flew 4500 miles east for awhile :)
The wife and took a long awaited, you know the whole pandemic thing, overseas trip.
Time for a Daytona trip update.
First, the front tank diesel fill worked REALLY well. I can set it on the second auto fill setting...
You saw how I mounted mine. Bonded and sealed a good sized aluminum plate under the shower pan, in 4 places. Drilled and tapped the plates then sealed the threads and bolt heads with silicon. Easy to reseal every 3 years or so if needed.
The original post idea works but I did not want to see...
GREAT work Sir!
Nice layout ideas! Only having a shower curtain, as a bathroom door, worked out perfect on our last trip. I will still hang the nice door I made…..for awhile!
You will love the sink! Or your wife will and love you for it! ?
CHEERS…..oh wait…..in Belgium we say PROOST!
Vance,
So well put! You NAILED all the big and small things that go along with a build of this magnitude. There is SO MUCH work people do not see in the thread, working life around the build and not the other way around. I have no idea how someone could build an overland rig of yours, or...
Was going to use the DEF filler mount , drivers side with the rods, to fashion an air port mount. Trying to not have it inside a box on the drivers side.
Cheers!!
We get to camp in it! YEAH!!!
Not done….yet, but time to GO!
We will get busy doing all the other doors and drawer fronts when we return. Building break time! Time to do what it was built to do…GET OUT THERE!
CHEERS!!! From Florida!
Trip report later.
It rides and handles...
Look closely at the box photos on the floor. Notice 3 openings :) Air chuck mid rig passenger side long door box. The one missing the door is the grey tank concealment box. I will also have an air chuck on the drivers side. I am thinking on the DEF mount Ram provides us. More later!
Thanks...
Worked late last night!
The grey tank storage box door had a powder coat flaw and will be redone this week. I was able to get the drivers side box installed and mount the diesel fuel fill. Great idea, but some work to hook up. There will be a block off plate to protect the hoses inside the...
Busy building. Big trip push.....ignoring the thread -:(
A quick update.
Under sink kitchen shelf made and test fit. YES, I cleaned up all the wiring :) I still want to redo the P trap to a smaller camper version for a bit more room under the sink.
The heater is in and it works. The vent...
On a completely different note.
I wanted the powder coat on our storage boxes to match the powder coat on the front Buckstop bumper, and the rear bumper. I called Buckstop when we had the rear bumper powder coated to get the information and realized I never posted the information to the build...
Two long weeks.
A major storm tried to wipe out parts of our little town of Griffin, 4 Tornadoes, EF3's, LOTS of damage but thank God no deaths in Griffin. It could have been SO MUCH worse. We took a break from the build for a few days to help out. The storm front also crushed parts of...
