Sweet. Like I said the drop is real mild. There is an improvement in handling, but definitely nothing hard core. Great in my opinion for a daily driver who drives fairly aggressive, but still wants a comfortable ride. They supposedly work well with factory dampers, being that they are only a...
I would have to measure again, but I believe I essentially have the same amount of forward rake as I did when the truck was stock now, with the leaf springs and the camper loaded. I've adjusted the coil overs slightly in the last couple days, driver's side has around 2" of thread showing and...
This one is from ECS tuning. I have a panzer on the golf, pretty sure it saved the oil pan on more than one occasion. No real reason for using the ECS one except I was putting together an order with them already. I finally got the work done on the Jetta yesterday. Had been waiting on the apr...
Nice! No way I would have messed with that without an impact though, you're nuts. Haha
My electric impact has paid for itself over and over again. I only used hand tools for YEARS and finally bought it after doing some things on the truck. Even the simple things like rotating the tires, it...
Yeah that's the plan! I can't do anything until I list and sell the truck, and our baby is here. The wife seems to think she was starting labor this afternoon but it really hasn't been progressing much. Standing by...
Sweet! I'm really hoping for some good weather soon to get her out on...
That's awesome. I've watched a couple of my friends kids start on them around age 2 and they do really well. The transition to a regular bike, when they're ready, is really quick too! The last couple times I put my daughter in my deuter backpack carrier and rode around on my bike, she didn't...
I think you may be right. An aftermarket sorce of the second alternator mount and 105 amp alternator lists at $400. Not to mention charger controller/regulator. A larger single alternator and ctek may be more cost effective anyway.
Running low on energy. I have both of the new renogy 100 watt panels ready to mount. The panels are now mounted to angle aluminum cut to 55", to mount on the Yakima racks. I need to find some good adhesive remover to remove the glue that held down the Velcro that secured the old labels...
I've been up since 4:30 so I decided to put a few miles on the truck, and ended up just driving for about 45 minutes. The truck just feels great. Having more travel in the back makes it ride so much smoother. The rear axle just smoothly floats over bumps and driveways and stuff, like it...
Well.....
I should have done this a long time ago! It is a little high in back, but I think the springs will settle a little. Also there is no water or anything in the camper. So far I only drove a few miles but it feels great, like it was designed to carry the camper. Surprisingly I left...
Still working. I've been up for some 36 hours, just got home at 1pm after traveling all day. 3 hours of sleep the day before.
The springs are on now. I'm taking a break, shuffling things in the garage and then loading the camper.
Good to hear! Really the only negative thing I see that the max charging is 80amps with the smart pass. Likely not an issue in the real world, but would be nice to be able to match the draw from an inverter and induction cook top or similar.
Another idea I could entertain would be to mount a...
Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately I have heard a similar story here before.
I have no interest in the platform, but maybe you would like to elaborate on the issues? Did Marc offer to help or buy back etc?
What will your next rig be?
Cool, glad you got it worked out.
I'm sure you already know but, if you're using FWC wiring from the truck it is small gauge, and going to have a very hard time supporting a 200 amp hour battery all the way back in the camper. Would be curious to see if the ACR even stays connected when the...
Nice 4Runner! I tried to talk to my wife into getting a new one before we bought the Jetta but it didn't really make sense with her commute and stuff. They seem like a great rig, but I started looking in the back seat and thinking about rear facing car seats and it looked cramped. Nice work...
Ok thanks guys. On my Tacoma I use three dual purpose AGM batteries (1 starter, 2 aux for camper), all same size with the blue sea ACR. The solar controller tops off with a multi stage charge, as does the converter. I just wanted to make sure there was no real issue doing this with different...
I have looked at the ctek chargers/isolator and smart pass, but their descriptions were confusing in some aspects and vague in others. Mostly it just looked liken something expensive and complex, something to fail. I like the relative simplicity of the ACR.
I hate that I'm starting a new topic for this question, but please hear me out. ;)
The reason for this example is because a vehicle only has room for a small starter battery under the hood, and it may not be as cost effective to use 3 of them as house batteries. Additionally the house battery...
