I’m not aware of any specific A-arm kits to do that, it feels like the steering and suspension geometry would get complicated.
You may have already considered (but did not say) pushing the tires out instead of forward. That could be easily accomplished with a change of wheels or even with...
I almost bought one of those kits myself! Considering how slow my refresh project on my used Chaser went, I can only imagine that I too would be selling an unfinished project! I wonder how many never see the road?
No, but I’ve broken more than a few aluminum tubes Trying to make new RTT poles on an actual tube bender. Do you have a picture? That might help with advice.
Generally, heating it will remove the temper and allow easier bending, but kinking or breaking is EXTREMELY likely. You might be...
I’ve never tried to sew a RTT, but yeah, it’s just simple angles. The tension rod comes in horizontally at about a 45-50 degree to the base. It goes through a grommet in the corner so the tension rods are both trying to pull the awning out and away from the tent. This is also why they flap so...
Arb kit is a pretty expensive way to cover 18”, although it gets you the fuse holder. I think you could do much better with bigger wire from a hardware store for much less $$.
I’m bumping this because I did some Garage cleaning this weekend and realized that I still have these. The tires were a little sketch so I had them disposed of. I now have only the wheels, spacers, drums, and lug nuts. They are technically ship able, but I’m not sure you would want to do...
I could hear it inside my house when my wife started the truck in the morning. We are in Central Cali, so “cold start” was still over 80 degrees F, but had been sitting 12+ hours. It sounded like crushing rocks for about 4-6 seconds and then wouldn’t repeat until the next cold start. My wife...
It sounds to me like you need a new dealership. The TSB includes replacing a huge number of parts. How could those parts just start working after 2000 miles? I was surprised and impressed by the local dealer. I told my wife to mention the noise at an oil change, she had all the research, the...
Can’t agree enough with the premium fuel. I always put in high octane before a road trip with the wife’s eco boost…. She sees wasted $$, I see investment in fun & happy.
A place called TSM made bracket kits and I used many of them over the years too. Pictures of the calipers and mounts are needed to satisfy this request.
Of greater concern to you should be the TSB for cam phasers. It is a pricey one if they don’t get it under warranty, and you are close to done. Any short grinding/rattling at startup needs to go to dealer immediately.
Turbos do relatively little at low RPM. They need to spin to build boost to build power. Keep the oil clean and do long drives to get them warm and running steady and there will be little issue. I don’t know about the Ecoboost turbos specifically, but 10-12x engine RPM is relatively common...
I would personally add brakes and a brake controller, even if your local jurisdiction doesn’t require them. Almost any vehicle can tow comfortably when things are going well, it is the other times that you wish you had more braking or independent trailer braking.
I have not used them in a vehicle, but I have built a few cabinets and furniture. Thinking about the size of the springs in most soft closures, and the assumption that drawers will open to the rear of vehicle, I suspect that the hundreds to thousands of acceleration cycles a vehicle sees will...
Another possibility:
Local trade school / community college with an auto body program? They are often looking for projects and will sometimes do work for the cost of materials, a program donation would be appropriate if they do a nice job.
Another possibility:
Go to a local / regional classic car or tractor show. Look for a car with a decent but not amazing paint job. Something in one solid color with a little bit of orange peel. Find out who painted it, probably some guy working out of his garage for side jobs. Talk to that...
A couple of weeks ago in Fresno Pick-n-Pull there was an 02-03 F250 that still had front and rear axles with disc brakes. Maybe not exactly your ask, and I have no idea if they are still there, but could be worth a drive to find out.
