UZJ100 built for the long trip south

So I have narrowed things down a bit and made more decisions. I am really close to buying a set of drawers, I know what I want, it is pretty well decided on. Also I am getting a new fridge slide that will drop down since the fridge will be on top of the drawers. This I have also pretty much...

I guess I didn't post these pictures yet, I thought I did. National Luna dual battery set up with Slee 2nd battery kit. As mentioned I modified the Slee kit to hold my winch control box and the NL solenoid. I had already made all the long cables for my 80, actually shortened a few of them since...

UZJ100 built for the long trip south

Not wanting to get into to much of this at this time and on the forum. I may or may not give up my citizenship. I may or may not obtain that in such and such country, I may even get both. Up in the air at this time. Not planning to set down any real solid roots for sometime, a year, maybe even...

UZJ100 built for the long trip south

Hey apologies, I kind of missed your post. Thank you for the good words about my previous escapades. I don't want to say to much yet because nothing is set in stone and I change things up often. However, when I was in Baja winter before last I met the most amazing guy in Cabo Pulmo. He is a...

UZJ100 built for the long trip south

Alright here is a few pictures. I really like the roof rack, it was not cheap but I feel you get what you pay for. I already tested it by sitting up there while I was working on it, no worries at all. I started out by mounting the table to the back but after the first try putting it up there...

Soon! Work in progress still. I was just on your site last night browsing some gear. ;) Awesome! I really want to put them in, just have to wait and see as I need other stuff first. I was out of town for nearly a week, backpacking in Oregon. I came home to find my new Front Runner roof...

Just fitted a BlueBerry bumper and my Warn 9.5xps. Stoked! Also installed the Slee 2nd battery kit with my Odyssey 1200. The kit is meant for an ARB compressor too but I am mounting my National Luna 2nd battery kit there along with my control box and remote set up for my winch to it. Going to...

    The Mongrel: FJ62 body + FZJ80 chassis + turbo diesel + ???

Well, here is a finished 108" wheelbase FZJ80 chassis. :) I need to extend the rear frame rails 6", that's easy. Then it is time to make the body mounts. Cheers

    The Mongrel: FJ62 body + FZJ80 chassis + turbo diesel + ???

Absolutely! I cut the coil buckets and shock towers off the FJ80 frame. It sucked but it is done now. So I am scrapping c/o's and the Ruff Stuff towers for keeping it Slee coils and normal shocks. By this evening I might have the front axle under it, I just got a bunch of work to do first! Cheers

    The Mongrel: FJ62 body + FZJ80 chassis + turbo diesel + ???

Obviously by the pictures I had the frame upside down. I spent some time attempting to plot the RLCA mounts and get them back on the frame just right. Then it occurred to me, just put the rear axle under it, center it up and go for it. So that is what I did and it turned out to be very easy...

UZJ100 built for the long trip south

It was one hell of an awesome place in the 90's when I came here. Now not so much. Just to many people, many of which are not very cool. I been just working for the last 17yrs and hiding out. I do get some enjoy time in but for a long time now I go far out, again just to many people for my...

Pickup cab on an 80 series chassis?

To me it seems much easier to just make the 80 a pickup by cutting the body up. Issues with a Taco on an 80 would be; cab width compared to frame. Frame length compared to a Taco, my 04 Taco was longer than my 80. width of axles, how much are they going to stick out? My Taco was narrower than...
