So I know I have about the most boring build thread here, but I thought I’d throw these here anyway. I had to swap out tires, and went with the Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT’s in a 285/75/17. Cooper claims the AT3 285/75/17 is a 33.82x11.50 tire. My rough-ish measurements show it’s pretty close.
My bosses Chevy 1500 has 4H, 4L, 2H, and 4A
My father in laws Chevy 2500 has the same
My wife’s Colorado ZR2 has the same
I don’t know about the new Rams.
I had a 2004 HD Hemi on 35” tires with 3.73 gears and now I have a 2012 Power Wagon running 34” tires and 4.56 gears. Both trucks have the 5.7L Hemi in them. The 2004 needed 4.10 gears with the 35” tires, but it still did a pretty good job. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a used Hemi if the...
Well if you’re interested in fuel economy stay the hell away from the Ram Power Wagon. I love my truck (5.7L Hemi, 4.56 gears, 285/75/17 tires) but it’s not built for economy. Empty in town I see around 11.5 - 12mpg. When we brought the 21 foot pontoon boat home (not heavy but it’s like towing a...
The new 7.3L sounds impressive. It makes me wonder when Ram will bring out something bigger? The Big 3 are always in a Power Pissing Match, so I expect we will see bigger things headed our way. I just want 500hp/500 lb-ft of torque. :)
For me it’s gas, simply because my drive to work is less than 6 miles one way. My kind of commute would be killer for a diesel. Plus my wife’s ZR2 is averaging 20mpg or better on the highway with less than 3,000 miles on it. I’m sure the diesel is better, but how long does the cost of diesel...
We bought my wife’s ZR2 from Karl Tyler in Missoula (they matched Dave Smith). While dinking around I saw this Bison on their website. This is pretty damn sharp.
We've had my wife's ZR2 since May, and the more I drive the truck (when she lets me) the more I like it. Now, I wouldn't trade it for my Power Wagon, but for a mid size truck it really is a nice little truck. It's easy to zip around town in, and it get's north of 20mpg on the highway. The...
I must be the only sick one here, but I love the process of buying new (not used) vehicles. With the power of the interweb, as well as multiple apps, a better deal is always easy to find. Between KBB and NADA you know what your current vehicle is worth if you’re playing the trade game. The local...
I agree on Dennis Dillon. My 2012 Power Wagon came from there. Easiest car buying experience ever. Very little hassle, and the best deal I could find nationwide.
I think the bent frames has been blown out of proportion. I’ve seen two trucks with bent frames online, and one had a trailer behind it that may or may have not been overloaded or going too fast for conditions. To me it’s like the 1st Gen Raptors that were being jumped. If you go fast enough in...
We recently bought my wife a Colorado ZR2 with the gas motor, and it seems like a good little truck. At 6’8” I fit comfortably in the front seats (you can’t say that about the Tacoma or the Gladiator) and it’s fairly zippy for a V6. I think it’s going to be a good little truck. I think the Bison...
