    What to do?

I haven't driven a Chevy with the auto locker (they've got them for 1500's as well), but I'm not a fan of the concept. I'd rather have full-time on or selectable (much more prefer selectable). _ Payload wise, I could live with that as well. Well, in fact, that's what I've got (~1,500lbs). I...

    Subaru Outback roof rack options

Yeah, I saw your build. Very nice. I want to get something more lower profile, so I'll see where I get with this. I may contact you if that ends up not working out. So there is a welded nut there? If so, that would solve a lot of headache for you.

Those are some good buys, actually. Didn't know they were that "cheap". I'd imagine gas counterparts are cheaper still. _ Just looked up the curb weight: https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=chevy+colorado+diesel+curb+weight If that is right (4,200 lbs), then with the GVWR listed at...

    What to do?

I updated with 2016 models: https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/Find.do?action=sbs&id=37049&id=36810&id=37050&id=36598 The new 2015+ N/A V6's are 3.5 with 6-sp transmission (going to 3.3L in 2018, I believe, with 10-sp transmissions, which should improve the MPG even more). Looks like they do...

99 4runner Build Questions And Another Tire Size Question

Yeah, I registered about a 2MPG loss with 235 and 265 from the stock size (but the stock size I ran was the p-rated Ragged Fails). That's surprising that the bull bar affected the MPG that much. I'm guessing it's the hoops (can't remember if yours has them or not, though). _ Fortunately, the...

    What to do?

That's pretty good mileage with the camper (although I've got to take that 1 sample with a grain of salt). I'm sure they get great mileage, but again, not enough to offset the diesel cost of acquisition and operation. We've been over it. yadda yadda No, I was talking about the N/A 3.5L, not...

99 4runner Build Questions And Another Tire Size Question

I've said it many times in the past, but 235/85/16 will not result in better MPG than other 32" tires. I had both 235/85/16 and 265/75/16 on my old Tacoma. There was zero difference in MPG (both returned ~19mpg highway). I really don't see any reason NOT to choose 265/75/16's in your...

    What to do?

They've got to be sweating a little bit with the Canyon/Colorado's good sales and the new ZR2 coming out, as well as the Ranger now coming back. I've never ridden in AZ, but close to in So Utah. That's brutal. On the flip side, one ride I did up here (60 or so miles), it was in the single...

    What to do?

That's really perplexing. Considering Toyota is very competitive in the sedan/subcompact car market where they get great MPG. Why doesn't that bleed over to trucks? Ford 3.5 V6's get 24MPG on the highway (all stock), in a heavier vehicle and larger stock tires (32"). I understand the...

Traded Tacoma for '16 ecoboost F-150. Heresy?!

Hey, are you worried about paint wear on the tailgate from the Trasharoo? Maybe some 3M film would help protect it?

    2008 Ford E350 V10 4WD

Cool van. I think you should keep it, and slowly upgrade the interior to your liking. I've seen some cool builds with wood floors, etc. Plus with it being bare in the back, you could insulate it much better than passenger vans (looks like you've got it done in a few spots). Maybe you could...

    What to do?

That looks like a LONG day on the bike! 1WD up slick stuff--that would give you a workout. I'll stick to 4WD ATV's :D

    Land Cruiser 80 vs 100.

I would look into 03+ 100 series if lots of towing is involved. The 4-sp towed ok (found on 98-02), and definitely better than an 80, but not great. I haven't towed with a 5-sp, but I would imagine it's better than my old 4-sp. It was struggling up some of the mountain passes towing ~3k lbs.

    Subaru Outback roof rack options

Looks like same/similar to Forester racks. It would be nice, but according to a couple of people in that thread, it would cost over $1k for the parts and mounting points would be different for older gen Outbacks. Glad they're finally coming out with this, though. Folding rack was a dumb idea. _

    Tires for stock 2006 2500HD 6.0

For what it's worth, I never saw better MPG with 235's than 265's on my Tacoma. Both returned about 19mpg (kept track on my 100 mile daily commute--same terrain, climate, etc.). There are more tire selection with 265's as well.

    Subaru Outback roof rack options

Thanks for the info/inputs. _ Here is a video found on youtube. Looks like as outback97 said, headliner needs to come out. The guy on there said 1 hr "if you're good." So probably a weekend project for me. After that, it looks to be fairly simple--just unbolt and remove. I'm thinking if I...

    Subaru Outback roof rack options

Needless to say, the stock roof rack sucks on our Outback (newer gen with the folding arms). Yet, there are no options for a replacement. I'm talking replacing the whole thing. _ Looking at the Landcruiser racks, it seems like if simple towers could be fabricated, rack options would be...

    Tires for stock 2006 2500HD 6.0

Skip the 235/85. I hated that size. Lateral stability is non-existent. I'd go 265/75/16.
