    My F-150 Expo (sorta)

FYI I went through three steering racks on my 06 f150 with the bilstein 5100s set at 2" up front (within 75k miles). The left side on the steering racks all developed play with the angle of the tie rod. I wouldnt go that route again, personally. Get a small lift that fixes the angles on the...

My 2012 Sahara Tan JKU Build

I do like the tan color! I think 4.56 gears will work well for you. Im running stock 4.10 in mine with the same lift and tires, and six speed manual. It still cruises on the highway fine in sixth gear, even towing. It's good enough that I won't mess with gears for a while, but it's not quite...

    Post Pic's of your Jeep

The Detroit was on my F150, not the Jeep. For what it's worth I loved the Detroit and a previous Aussie locker in another vehicle, but both were automatics. A good friend of mine had a TJ with a manual trans and Detroit and it was pretty miserable to drive. The inherent backlash of the...

AEV JK Control Arm Brackets Install Question

Displeased with the AEV instructions? Wish I could say I'm surprised, they are junk. If I was 100% sure that mine went together as it should I would tell you, but if you can't figure it out just give them a call. At least you are doing it on a week day!

    Post Pic's of your Jeep

A few from a 9 nine day camping trip (1300 miles) to Northern California, no real wheeling but lots of back roads, river beds and forest service roads. Four of us together with our gear. The AEV suspension worked awesome. Somehow still averaged 17-18mpg even with the 35s. Very happy with...

    Rear Shocks Under Load

I'm on a trip right now with 4 people, loaded with gear, and a hitch rack with 62qt cooler and have minimal squat with the AEV 3.5" lift. Some good progressive springs and quality shocks would probably be a huge help.

    Jeep Wrangler Habitat Official Release

Even if it weren't adults, some people have kids and may wish to keep young ones close. Even for me it isn't that I would set out to have four adults up there, but just that you COULD if you needed to (flooded tent on the ground etc). Or if the weather is crap, a few people could hang out up...

    Jeep Wrangler Habitat Official Release

It would be nice to have the option to order with an "open" layout behind the front seats. I think that would be much more versatile for most people. I like this idea, as well as modifying the roll bar (or fabbing a new one completely).

    Jeep Wrangler Habitat Official Release

The habitat is much more appealing than a RTT to me. If you add up the price and weight of a quality tent, quality rack and hard top you probably wont be far off, however the price definitely is tough to swallow. What you gain is a light, low profile option that offers a good amount of space...

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

I've been considering that hi lift mount for a while. What do you think of it so far?

    JK- Expedition One Bumpers

They look good! I'm still undecided with bumpers. I really like the poison spyder mid width front and more narrow rear bumper, if I decide to run flat fenders. But the full width bumper makes a lot more sense with stock fenders and offer much better protection in the woods. I like the black...

16" tire for the rubicon. Suggestions?

You could probably save a lot of money on rubber if you switch to 15" wheels. You may even pay the same for new 15" wheels and tires as you would for 16" tires alone. You'll also have more size options with lower weight ratings (31x10.50 or 33x10.50) rather than the E rated tires you're likely...

16" tire for the rubicon. Suggestions?

The km2s are hard to beat. I just sold my f150 with 35" km2s that had about 47k miles on them, with a little under 1/4" tread depth. This is with 4.56 gears, a Detroit locker and very heavy right foot. They were smooth, quiet and worked great in virtually everything I threw at them, dry, wet...

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

How do you like it so far? I want something similar but without seeing them in person I have a hard time justifying the cost. I hate squeaks and rattles and it's very difficult to tell from pictures whether or not it is going to create a lot of noise.

Oregon Backcountry Discovery Route (OBDR), Route 3 - September 2011

Thanks for posting the trip report! I've been wanting to explore these routes but none of my friends work a similar schedule to make it work. If you revisit and want some company....

Main Line Overland JK Build Thread

Very good! I'm very pleased with the ride on mine as well. Less than pleased with some aspects of the instructions but oh we'll. I get a lot of driveline vibration over 60 though, and ended up ordering a new front driveshaft.

    Finally Have My New Rubicon!

Well I just ordered a Tom Woods front driveshaft. I drove about 100 miles on the freeway and there is a fair amount of driveline vibration at 60-70. I installed the y-pipe for now but I'm having second thoughts, I'm not sure I'll need it with a new front driveshaft.

    Finally Have My New Rubicon!

Thanks for the link. I had a hard time seeing that an aftermarket shaft would even clear on mine at full droop. Mine is a manual trans which supposedly pushes the transfer case further back. There is an afe y pipe sitting in the garage right now, I picked it up this evening. We'll see how...
