I helped a buddy put together a York engine driven oba setup in his TJ and it was just plain awesome. I don't know I anyone with a setup like that with the 3.6 but I would be all over it.
I agree that the mv-50 wouldn't work well with the heat of the engine bay. I was going to hard mount one...
I used an mv-50 for a couple of years, then switched to the mv-89 as well. There were several occasions where I aired up mu 33s, then a friends and never had a problem with it. Though it has been a few years since I've fully aired down and used it to air all four back up, I haven't done this...
I did get to check out the Habitat, but decided that the J30 makes more sense for us. I'm not sure the habitat would work well for me because it would be difficult to dry out, and could often be put away wet and left for three weeks or more while I'm at work. The habitat is an awesome product...
I don't get the tailgate thing either. It is exactly my luck that a buddy would come along and close the tailgate on me as well.
It's just extra weight at that point, and it's a few inches of length (interior room) that you lose if you would have extended the camper the the back of the tail...
I havent seen their trailers before but that's an awesome price for what you get. I'd strongly consider it if I was in the market for a trailer right now.
Had one in my f150 and loved it as well. Comfortable and warm, much nicer to crawl and sleep in the back with it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one if I had another truck.
Thanks for commenting about your experience with the RTT. I have been searching around for people's experience with roof tents in wet climates.
I've tried to clean mildew stains on sails and stuff that got stored wet or got wet after being stored. I can kill the growth but some stains never...
No, I don't think so. I've never had a RTT so my concerns may be invalid, I don't know.
The tent material in the habitat feels like its very high quality and durable. I mostly worry about my schedule and the inability to dry it out at this point. Most of the small items on the tent are...
I must have been mistaken on the drip rail. It was getting dark as I arrived, must have just been attached with tape or something then.
The flap on the rear section was one thing. The tent seemed to be really stretched tight, maybe it wasn't broken in. It seemed like the bottom of the tent...
John, thanks for letting me stop by and check out the camper. It will only make my decision more difficult as I liked the smaller j30 more than the habitat in some ways, but I really appreciate your time!
Oh and maybe you've seen this, but just if not...
DingusKahn,
Thanks so much for meeting with me and showing me your Jeep and Habitat!
Mario,
I have a few questions about the tent. Would it be possible to have a few minor changes made, or does AT have a big stack of tents already sitting at the shop? There are a few modifications that...
My advice is to buy the synergy full suspension bolt kit and install it ASAP.
At 5k miles the sleeves inside the control arm and track bar bushings are all buggered up and have slack in them. The holes in the frame side front track bar bracket are oval shaped now. I installed the lift at 700...
I would love to at least climb around in it for a few minutes if you don't mind! I sent you a private message a few days ago actually, I'll probably be around New Mexico about this time next week.
I'm going to check in with Mario at the end of the week to see what his schedule is like, but...
Can't wait until you get it! I've been trying to schedule a time to meet Mario (was originally next Monday) but his schedule keeps changing. Thanksgiving isn't helping either. I've got a cross country trip next week and I'm trying to see the j30 and habitat in person to decide which one I...
I don't have any specific advice, but I do have space in my garage in Hillsboro (west of Portland) if you are still in the area and need space to dry it out and work on it for a couple days. You'd have to come up with a creative way to unload it and roll it in I guess but the offer is there...
If you have it, give it a try. I used reflectix (foil bubble wrap stuff) under and about 4" up the sides of the mattress in my hard side camper and it seemed to help a lot. Actually I used 1/2" foam insulation, then reflectix, then the mattress on top. Nice and toasty with no notable...
It would have looked good if it wasn't so high about the roof line... It looks okay with the rack but they look terrible with a bare top in my opinion. It looks like it would do a good job of catching brush and tree branches?
