    Vario project started

Great build, coming on nicely. Is underun protection a mandatory thing in Europe?

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Thanks, like most things on this build, I have gone a bit over the top with it :) The blue light will only be for when the spotlights or roof light are on, more of a reminder of which one I have switched on, as it will be pretty difficult not to realise that I have them on. The spotlight only...

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Time for a quick update. First of all i have made the subwoofer box. It was pretty tricky getting enough volume for it, but with a lot of compound angles and a lot of fiddling it fits nicely. The sound is really good, with the subwoofer adding the missing bass. It certainly is loud enough...

    MAN 4x4 Truck camper build

Almost finished the cab wiring, and hope to have the modification to the dash/instrument panel finished next weekend if I get some time. There is now a lot of wires in my mog, strange when the truck itself can be roll started and then doesn't need any electrics for it to run. So far I have...

    MAN 4x4 Truck camper build

Looks like you had fun, great to get out in the truck. Fuel consumption is not too bad, for something that bi. You 1000km range is about the minimum though, not sure where you intend heading, but we have about 1000km range in our Land Rover, which is OK, but have need at least 1500km in a few...

    MAN 4x4 Truck camper build

Progress has been a bit slow, not had much time to get anything substantial done. At least I have finished my overhear console, bit of overkill but then so is most of the things on my truck now. Looking back, I think I've spent almost as much time as some guys on here spent on their entire...

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

September Update It has been a while since the last update, mainly due to work and other priorities I have not had much time to spend on the truck. I have managed to get a little bit of progress done though. First off is the overhead console, and much shaping and sanding, I was finally happy...

    So SkiFreak

I can agree with Gait, if you make something simple, then it is a lot easier to build. If you look at major manufacturers, they all have their standard designs and they limit the "customisation" to colours, wood finishes and drawer knobs, and maybe a cupboard vs a shower or an extra window but...

    So SkiFreak

I admire you commitment Owen, you are a lot like I am, time is not as important as getting it right. I'm quite content to take it apart and start again if something is not quite what I want. I just realised that I started mine in 2009 looking back at the start of my blog. So you have a couple...

    MAN 4x4 Truck camper build

Things are looking great David, and you were talking about a Unimog being big, that thing is massive?

    NPS Camper Build

Looks like you have a mobile power station Shannon, might be able to hire it our to Energex to boost the grid :)

I feel another build coming on.....

The Kiravan is a bit of overkill. I would agree that anything with a mechanical primary system - ie older mechanical engines etc, would be more robust, and I have kept that in my Unimog despite seriously thinking about an engine transplant with a more modern, fuel efficient and quieter motor...

Pondering the COG of a camper mounted on a Mitsu or Isuzu

I was surprised how far a Unimog can go on the static test - 38 degrees side slope. Trying to drive on a side slope is one thing, but the more likely scenario is more dynamic like getting bogged in a desert by just driving slightly off the hard track.

    Jim the Truck - a mercedes 1823

Thanks Charlie, any part number or sizing on the needle valve? Do you have a photo?

    Jim the Truck - a mercedes 1823

I would second that Charlie, any details of the system would be great, as I could build it in now, rather than having to do it later, Since Australia doesn't have any parts over 2300m (7,500ft) we won't need it for a while, but it would be good to have anyway.

I feel another build coming on.....

I've seen quite a few of the Gall boys videos, pretty exiciting stuff, although what they don't tell you is the size of the crew travelling with them ( the last few seconds probably shows the crew on that trip) They also don't tell you how much damage is done on each trip, broken axles...

I feel another build coming on.....

If Australia is one of the place you want to visit, you could probably use your exisiting set-up without the trailer providing you stick to the more touristy places. There are always large buses and trucks going up to Cape York, Mitchell Plateau and Fraser Island. Basically the dirt roads are...

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

The Main problem with the Parrot 2 is that in the slightest breeze it drifts, and unless you are in an open field, it is pretty easy to crash, and it is pretty weak structurally. The range of the wifi link is realistically around 15m or so, but the reaction time get slower the further away it...
