hmmm, a real question for the experienced

Interesting thread revival :). Having spent over 3 months driving around Australia in our Land Rover wit a RTT, we found that it was all good when the weather was great up north across the Savannah way, the Kimberlies etc it was fantastic. We had a few days of strong wind and some cooler...

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Thank Pairo, I know we will both finish our trucks, as we are both mad enough to have started and have the support of our wives and family to finish it. I wish you and Carmen wonderful and productive New Year and to all your family as well.

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

I have always said I will have it finished by December, just nver been sure of the year. My new years resolution is to finish the truck. The engine swap was not necessary, but going from 125hp motor, with the potential of getting up to 160hp, to a 170hp motor with the potential of getting...

Merkabah: MB 2626 AK 6x6 tipper to expedition truck conversion

Wow Pairo, hope you are OK, that looks painful. i've taken to wearing full leather welding jackets when using my power wire brush, too many close calls but nothing as bad as that. Glad to see you are back working on your truck. Keep up the good work, everything you do is one less thing to fix.

    MAN 4x4 Truck camper build

One question about your video, how did you move the steering wheel over to the left hand side of the truck LOL. Have you seen the new drone from DJI? http://www.dji.com/product/inspire-1

    MAN 4x4 Truck camper build

Great video, nice to see you using your truck like it was meant to be used :) That looks like a great area, will have to add it to our list. Love the aerial shots, and it is so nice to see both of you in the video, looks like you had a great time. So many photos and videos are of "ghost...

    Mercedes startin issue

not really MB related, but all starters are similar. This has happened to me was on my Discovery Tdi. It would just click when hot, let is cool down and it would start. Turned out the solenoid contacts inside were heavily carboned over, I took it all apart and cleaned it, got another 6...

    Unimog 1300 L

Can't help on the first one, but the most important thing on a Mog are the portal axles, there is a known problem of oil migration from the left hand front portal, which results in bearing damage and even complete failure, so check the oil in them and if there is any metallic bits, or the oil...

    MAN 4x4 Truck camper build

We tried a cassette toilet for a while a few years ago. For us, the problem is carrying all the chemicals, then the emptying, the cleaning, and the of course the smell. That's whats wrong with the chemical toilet.

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

There are no wires at all on the fuel pump. The exhaust brake actuates the same lever as the manual shut-off lever on the injection pump. It doesn't rely on the back pressure of the motor.

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

No electronics at all - everything is mechanical, only wire it needs to run is to the starter motor. I have to use the hand lever of exhaust brake to shut it down, although I will probably make us something the activates the exhaust brake for a few seconds when I turn of the ignition switch to...

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Motor is a OM352, I would need to change too many things if I had a 366 block/head, unless I was able to get a complete motor. I think mine will be as good is not better than the OM366 :)

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Just a quick update. The dash is finished, and off to the upholsterers. Took a bit of metal working to get something I was happy with. The instrument panel has been extended to incorporate new gauges and to raise the main instruments up to make them easier to see. In order to cover...

    MAN 4x4 Truck camper build

Its coming one great. let me know how the toilet goes, as that's what we have. Ours is in, but we have not tried it out yet :) Good idea about the bin, our is planned to be out the back of the truck, with a small bin bag holder next to the door in our shower recess. Might put it into our...
