    The Warn Pinz...

Last night I came across my old file on the truck, I thought I had sent it with the truck when I sold it but I guess not. Going through the file, geez I spent a lot and put a lot into this truck! So many things were fixed, repaired and or replaced. No wonder it still runs so good! Here are a...

    The Warn Pinz...

I went and bought this truck back! The folks I sold it to let me drive it around their ranch last weekend. After that I just couldn't stop thinking about the Pinzie. So on Monday I made them an offer, by Friday, they had accepted my offer. So this old friend is coming home. :D I will use this...

    The Mongrel: FJ62 body + FZJ80 chassis + turbo diesel + ???

Thanks! A month or so ago when I started building the engine stand I was playing around with my shock towers. These are RuffStuff 12" towers. I just have them set on the frame, which is from the donor truck, aka an 84 Patrol. But keep in mind the 80-series Cruiser chassis is within 1/2" of...

    The Mongrel: FJ62 body + FZJ80 chassis + turbo diesel + ???

I have been super busy with work the last 3 months. Over the holiday weekend I scored a really good job. I am a contractor so a big job is good for me! All this means cash flowage is becoming available for the project. Soon I am planning to buy a number of things I need for the project, not...

    show me your flex

Right, combine the two and you have something. One or the other is only half the equation or in other words half an off-road truck. Once you have a suspension that can move up and down and keep a tire on the ground and have traction to all 4-wheels (locked) rather than 2-wheels (open diff) you...

    show me your flex

Sorry but you are tripping! It is best in your mind and not a lot of others. The LR3 fails in dozens of ways and that is fact. In your world it may not be but that doesn't mean it is not full of fail. Just driving behind one and seeing that super lame low hanging rear exhaust mess is enough to...

    The Mongrel: FJ62 body + FZJ80 chassis + turbo diesel + ???

Building a sweet engine stand lately for the diesel. I kept the front frame from the donar truck when I cut it up and scrapped it last winter. Welded some legs on it recently so I can have a stand that I can run the engine in. Eventually I would like to put some wheels on the stand. I pop'ed a...

    Back in a 60

Funny, there is a new tan Cruiser in town this summer. I thought it may be yours but now I am sure it is not. On about 35's and looks to be SOA, real nice looking FJ60! Ya', just tape measure in the driveway. I have always had good results, I got's a manual and a tape measure. Anytime you want...

    show me your flex

No offense meant at all but that is because of the type of trails you drive. The basic fundamentals of offroading are based on traction and keeping a wheel on the ground. Horse power, gearing, tire size, ect ect ect all come after this. Which is why suspension flex and some lockers will take...

    Back in a 60

Used to be JH Brake & Alignment but they went under few months ago. So, I guess, not really. I always had good results here in the driveway. We can do that if you want. I haven't seen the Cruiser around yet! Will keep an eye out. I just spent 3 weeks straight working. Got the weekend off...

Hindsight = 20/20...what did you wish you had left behind? What did you need?

In my humble opinion... less = more! In other words, less = more weight saving which in turn means better mpg's. Less also = less to go wrong, less to burden you or drag you down or hold you back. Less can also = less to lose or have stolen. Less to insure, less to worry about. Blah blah blah...

Is this a Unimog failure or a GXV failure? (Pic included)

Also, Onboard welding may have saved them. Or simply having a handful of heavy duty load straps. 3-4 of those and I think it could have been driven to help. Or a combo of straps and onboard welder. You would think that a truck like that with everything onboard, a welder would also be there as...
