I have logged over 33K on my FJC (265/75/16). Great road manners, quiet, balance very well. Look like they will go another 25-30K.
Just got back from SedonaFest (logged over 350 miles off pavement), ran Crown King to Prescott via Senator Highway. Broken Arrow, Greasy Spoon and Soldier Pass...
...I installed used ICON coilovers on my FJC in March of this year. Previous owner claimed ~12K miles.
I was concerned about rebuild prior to install. Talked to Ryan at SDHQ (local to me). Was told to run them, no need to worry until they start to leak (if ever).
Ryan (and others) confirmed...
:smiley_drive: Saw you on the 60 on Tuesday...You were about to merge onto the 101, I was in the #1 lane heading to the West side...
Good looking rig...
I disagree, When I was looking to replace my Heep, I looked at the Tacoma and the FJ.
Duties are DD and Overland/Mall Crawling/Grocery Getting/Weekend Getaway/Camping/Wheeling rig.
The FJ won hands down for me. I don't need a truck, I have a brother and friends that do. :wings:
-I can sleep...
You have a short somewhere. Coax is most likely the main culprit.
Did you build the coax yourself? Meaning, did you install the RF connector(s) [after passing through the truck]?
Do not use your radio if the reading is over a 3, as you will harm the radio.
edit...KA5IVR has good points...
I know you said you didn't like on top of the factory fuse box.
I found it to be a perfect platform for mounting mine.
I left extra negative wire so I can move the top around if the need arises to gain access to the factory fuses.
Currently it only is wired for my fridge.
As I add...
Use the existing paint for the bumpers and the wheels [hopefully not powder-coated]. :victory:
That will tie in everything to the trailer...:smiley_drive:
I'd look at the Hankook Dynapro ATM in lieu of the BFG.
Stick with the 265/70/17 size.
I have the Hankook's (265's) on my FJC and absolutely love them...over 24K thus far, still have 10/32's of tread.
3" lift makes them look a little small, but I don't sacrifice the DD ability.
With 265's...
I've owned ~20 different models (Sig/XD/Ruger/KelTec/Taurus). What I haven't owned, I've shot (friends/rentals/etc...)
I've sold them all but my Glock 17 & 19.
My advise...
Glock 19, then shoot, shoot, shoot. Repeat weekly. :victory:
Um, you sure about that statement?
