Heading to Hawaii….what to do with my ‘13 LR4 HD?

IMO the market is as hot as it’s ever gonna be for these trucks. If you won’t miss it when you come back, sell it. I think $20k is a good number for your truck w the mileage on it, maybe a little more. Put it on cars and bids, it’ll see for that easily.

    Non LT Tyres(Tires)

Yea, its definitely slimmer pickings for tires now. Most wheels are 18s or 20s, and like you said at that point it just makes sense to make OE-spec and then right to LR E (even F!). Its hard to even find certain sizes/specs in 17" flavor.

    Non LT Tyres(Tires)

I think a lot of people are out there running E loads for literally no reason at all other than to say they are. Are the sidewalls stronger? In a load carrying sense, yes. In a puncture resistance sense? Not necessarily. I'm running XL rated tires on my truck (it's heavy, and that's what it came...

    Suburban/Tahoe(and GMC) pic/build thread

The auto ride is SO NICE. Its an expensive system to maintain though. If you want to get rid of it, just take it all out. You'll get an error on the LCD screen but the system isn't embedded into anything else in the truck so it will work fine. I think they make a module you can add (or program...

Is the FZJ80 worth it in today’s market?

D1s are a lot smaller than 80s, but the greenhouse makes them feel similar. LWB RRCs would be a better comparison for something born around the same time. Cruisers have always been bigger than the equivalent LR until recently. It's too bad WJ Grand Cherokees don't hold up, that's a great package...

OBA - How much does an air tank help?

CO2 is the fastest tire filler (seconds, not minutes), but I wouldn't run that tank under the truck.

As they say, no replacement for displacement.

    F150 - 2.7L vs 3.5L vs 5.0L

6R80 is just a slightly different ZF 6HP. One of the finest transmissions ever produced, used in pretty much everything.

    2022 Range Rover L460

Sounds about right. Its just a stopgap anyway until they release the full electric one. Right now they need to big power motor to compete with other brands, so it was probably way cheaper to just use an existing motor than develop a new one. I'm sure there is some emissions reason they didn't...

Is the FZJ80 worth it in today’s market?

No one's breaking Jeep transfer cases. Dana 35 rear ends? Yes. I agree on the "sum of its parts" thing, Toyota's build quality was a real marvel when the 80 came out, up and through the 2000s. Nowadays though, Toyota lags behind on innovation and every other manufacturer has stepped up their...

Ford SOHC 4.0 V6 engine RE: Timing Shenanigans

So... the motor with the timing chain driven water pump that when it leaks mixes oil with coolant? With the 4.0 SOHC most of those trucks out of their useable life when they are ready for chains (as long as they've been maintained). My parents had one with 185K on it and so signs of chain...
