The modes define make a difference, but it depends on the manufacturer. My Land Rover modes really change everything, but on my wife's VW they're pretty useless.
Holy smokes man, you guys just can't let it go. It was 11 degrees this morning, I like my heated seats and steering wheel. ******** me, right?
You have a Cummins, that truck makes way more sense than a 70.
Some people are flipping out over this, but RRCs, Discos, and Defenders didn’t have tow points from the factory, either. It’s a weird hill to stand on.
How many is a ton? 100 people? 200?
You are correct, Toyota will only sell what they can sell in volume for profit. Which is why the Supra is a BMW.. because they'd never make up the R&D on the car if they did it themselves.
Yup. There is no doubt that Toyota did and continues to make great vehicles. But when the whole "25 year service life" 80 series came about in 1990, having a car for 25 years was unheard of, even if it was another Toyota. Once we got to the mid 2000s, almost any vehicle bought new could last...
More than likely. Toyota has shifted (like every other manufacturer) to modular platforms, because it's cheaper. Toyota has always been about efficiency, which is why in a 100 or 200 you still got parts bin pieces like switches from a Corolla. So it makes sense to shift it all over to one. The...
It’s because it would ride like a dump truck, and have almost no axle articulation (like a LC70). Then they’d lose two big things they’re fighting the wrangler on.. ride quality and off road capability. It doesn’t need payload, it needs to wheel.
This was a great writeup on what a "real" overland rig should be. Toyota doesn't give AF because there are probably less than 100 people in the USA who would buy one new if it was offered, and not because it isn't what they wanted, it's because it would cost $85k.
Why? Because its "nOt...
Yea, I buy (and prefer to buy) quality goods from small companies all the time. But there’s no “bespoke overland air compressor” manufacturer around, and I haven’t heard the best things about ARB’s customer service anyway. This compressor isn’t from harbor freight (not sure if you got them...
I've googled my hardest, and can't find much information about these. Some info here and there on there Chinese ARB lockers, but nothing on the compressors. I specifically want to use the CKMA12 because I know I can mount it under the hood of my LR4. I have a VIAIR 300P and it's fine, but I...
All high GVM solid front axle trucks don't flex well. In the USA we're used to super flexy Jeeps so we associated SFA=articulation, but everywhere G wagons and LC70s do not have a lot of flex.
Toyota doesn't build a la carte. They predetermine the number of vehicles to be built with certain configs (colors, options, packages, etc) based on the previous years' take. When you "build" one, you're just getting an allotment.
