Nothing got under my skin more than my Disco did. I miss it. I'd still be driving a D1 (or RRC) if I didn't have a kid, but the crash safety pushed me into a newer one. The LR4 is pretty boss, though.
Toyota QC and reliability was mind-blowing in the 80s and early 90s when domestics were getting tossed in the crusher at 100k miles. Everyone else caught up, and its not a big deal anymore. Imagine buying a new truck and the salesman says, "At 175,000 miles you just rebuild the motor and it'll...
Never had a problem with my two 4.0 powered jeeps over 200k+ very hard combined miles that I didn't create myself.
parts go bad often, but they're cheap AF. Like $65 for an alternator, $10 for a TPS sensor cheap.
I didn't think this was the r/frugal subreddit.
Manufacturers don't make money on cheap or base models. Discounts are leveraged on higher equipped models and packages. This isn't changing.
meh, you either drive an old truck and deal with the old truck problems bc you want old truck things.. like no nannies and manual everything; or, you buy a new(er) one and don't worry about fixing it all the time and cruise in comfort.
They don't make em like they used to, and thank goodness...
The only thing that's invalid about your post is that you cannot buy a Raptor or TRX right now, and if you can find one you absolutely will not get it for MSRP. Once the market cools down, sure. But then there will be $15k on the hood of the ZR2 just like the Colorados a couple years ago.
This has been the case since the LT rating (4,6,8 whatever ply) became "ply rating" and didn't refer to the actual number of plies. That, and tire tech has improved greatly since you needed some Baja Belteds to go offroad. For whatever reason, people still pander that a load range E is stronger...
That sounds like a nice neighborhood.
I agree with the camper, a couple friends have nice flatbeds and campers but they're too small for 3 real sized people.
The WL platform is even newer than the Defender, so any reliability or long term reports are still out but so far it's gotten really good reviews everywhere. A friend has one, and its a really nice truck.
You're not wrong, but the reason IIRC was cooling. That's because the average Ram truck buyer isn't a commercial driver and isn't going to take it easy when fully loaded up a grade because he's loaded, he's going to hammer down to maintain the speed limit. Dodge probably didn't want to deal with...
"We need those rules here, to keep everyone safer" does not compute to a comparison to the communist party.
I can get on board with a healthy discussion on what should and shouldn't be regulated or "the law," and who makes and/or enforces them. But coming right out of the gate with "weld us in...
Yikes. Wes knows his ********, and all he was trying to say is you shouldn't cheap out on your rig and point out that another country has regulations for this that keep everyone on the road safe, and that many of our automotive standards are beyond antiquated.... and y'all always gotta make it...
Packaging is something a lot of brands are cheaping out on.
everything folds flat, spare still tucked underneath. split tailgate and a huge opening, its like a minivan in there.
things can be done, they just get expensive. the same way the LC300 can fold flat with the tire underneath, it...
