Had/have a few things to fix on my FJ60 before I deliver the truck to the new owner. One is fix the fuel gauge that has been not working since last November. So I dropped the fuel tank. Turns out the float on the sending unit has broken off, somebody had tried to attach the float to the arm...
BTW, saw this on another forum...

This is about what I am aiming for size wise on the truck. I will probably be a little taller and a little wider but this is about the just of what I am after.
Decisions made.....
I am going tri-4 link in the rear. Keeping the coil spring configuration but changing the links. Ditching the rear panhard bar. Will likely mount shocks behind the rear axle.
Front is going 3-link with a panhard. Will use 12" coilovers, Fox or King. Changing the links in...
The hardtops are/were made in Colombia. Best fiberglass after market tops you will find anywhere in the world. They were also made down there for Patrols. For some reason they are a lot nicer than the ones made in Australia, at least for the Patrols. There is a lot of different ones in both...
Man I got to make this event!
Cold beers, street tacos, off-roading, rally stuff, scavenger hunt, Zacapa rum, good people, beautiful country to travel though...it truly is going to be epic!
I think I just sold my 84 FJ60 this morning. I am 99% sure it is sold.
What this means for the Mongrel is....
I am shipping my new motor on over from Australia first thing. Beyond that I am buying a fresh air system and building the shelter plus rotisserie plus rebuilding my engine hoist. If...
Hey thanks and my pleasure to share!
No real updates. Got a sand blaster, it is pretty nice for a smaller sized pressurized blaster.
My fabrication buddy is coming over this weekend to help me make final decisions on suspension, wheelbase and so forth. I am itching to buy some brackets and...

I am a big fan of Marlin products and like everything they make.
However, I said it before in this thread and I will say it again. There is lots going around about the Marlin seals not being as good as OEM in the 80-series front axle...
Sending the body off the the body shop today for the restoration.
Got a bunch of Rust Bullet ordered, should be here by weeks end. Got some leaf spring hangers ordered from RuffStuff.
Still waiting on new leaf springs from Alcan.
Once Rust Bullet is here along with suspension parts I will...
Awesome! I knew this would really start shaping up into an event as some time went by. The only thing that comes to mind is...geez this is going to be a one-time rally. If all goes well it certainly could lead to more of them but the end of the world theme would not suit.
I think you should...
Got my used coil springs today, slapped them under the chassis. Stoked, it now looks like a real rolling chassis! The chassis is almost perfectly level now all around. Which is what I wanted to work with for the chop. Although I think I will hold off on the chop for just a little while longer...
Thanks Mr.D!!
I have actually driven the Y60 and Y61. Driven everything but the 4.2TD. Drove a brand new 3L TD in Colombia back in 2004, it was a SWB and had more pep then I thought it would.
I had planned to import one for a long time, the Y60 that is. I have given up on that now. Importing...
I am no Jeep fan but I got to say this is one of not only the 4wd markets concepts in many years but also Jeeps that I actually like.
A forward cab gives superior viability. Approach angle is also very good, hard to match in a normal vehicle without pushing the front axle very far forward.
I...
