For the carrier bearing have a look at inland empire and hendrix motorsports. Both are much heavier duty. The inland Empire one uses the stock toyota bearing in a big polyurethane damper while the hendrix motorsports uses a sealed ball bearing in a machined aluminum housing that attaches to the...
Trick for making sure you get the shaft back in alignment is to mark it with paint pens/ spray paint, claw or tooth marks. I made that mistake once before and it drove me crazy.

Unless you plan on going to 35s later I wouldn't hesitate to go 4.56s. I actually have a full 3rd member with 4.56's and a trd kazuma limited slip if you are interested. I have no need for it anymore. To get back to stock reading on 33s you need (iirc) 4.30 gears, with 4.56s you get a nice...
4.56 with 315's will be essentially stock, have been running 4.56 with 285's for almost 10 years at this point and I would say for 315's (34.5") 4.88 should be a minimum.

Its interesting that you had a poor experience with the duratracs, I love mine. I ran nitto dune grapplers and the old BFG KO2 ATs and I wasnt impressed with the BFG's. I will say that my truck "hunted" on the road but that was due to clapped out bushings in the upper control arms and worn inner...
I am actually going to update this post later this week. A few weeks ago I started the conversion/upgrade with the list above based on what I had read and was recommended to me. Turns out the 7/8-3/4 misalignment spacers have nowhere near enough throw and did not work. I ordered some 7/8-5/8 and...
I already drilled the ball joints out to 3/4". The list of stuff at the top is sitting assembled on my bench. I am just doing a sanity check on my tube size.
Brandon is correct, that is the spot I am concerned about. The 7/8-1 insert puts the threads outside the ID of the tube which puts the...
I agree with you on the rosette weld, I have them on my cantilever links already and plan on adding one regardless for the steering. The 7/8" heims on the outside allow more misalignment with a 3/4" bolt than the 3/4"-3/4" heim.
I would agree with you on the wall thickness as well but that is...
I am finally getting ready to put together my heim steering setup on my 01 Tundra and I am coming up dry on some information. Currently it is stock width on 33"s with plans for a 3.5 over and 35"s
Currently I have set aside:
BMS rack adapter
1/2" Grade 8 bolt (shanked)
3/4"-1/2" Heims (rack...
I have a 2wd 01 Tundra currently, it has an A340E. I purchased an 04 A340F from another Tundra and a J-Shift manual transfer case from a 4runnner that I am installing in the Tundra along with manual locking hubs and a converted front diff to eliminate the ADD.

Could one of you fine upstanding citizens upload a picture of how the first gen access cab tundra trans and transfer case crossmember looks? I have finally gotten all the crap together to do my swap but I want to see how the transfer case is supported. Is the transfer case supported or does it...
Also if these trucks run to truly to empty, they won't run the fuel pump at all. Learned that the hard way, filled it back up with gas and it fired right up.

I doubt it makes you feel better but I blew up 3 sets of yota gears and 1 set of 12 bolt gears before my current set. Currently I get gear noise on coast and my pinion seal leaks.

The departure angle on toyota trucks (t100 and gen 1 tundra) is god awful. Even if you trim the body back so the frame is the lowest point its still not great. When I did my custom hitch it helped a lot but its still not great, the rear overhang is to blame.
