2004 Tacoma front end knock, need help tracking down the cause

If you have stock upper control arms they might be contacting the coil spring on droop. My tundra did that when I had a daystar kit on the front but I don't remember my 5100's doing it. Sean

    04 Tundra Headlight Replacement

I just got done swapping to a pair of the black housing lights. I also did a morimoto bi-led prjector retrofit. My previous aftermarket housings had really bad light output. After the retrofit was done I wrapped the lenses in clear laminx to hopefully keep the wear/pitting/haze at bay. There is...

When you say lower bearings do you mean the shaft bearing or the spherical bearing? Sean

06 Tundra: Proceed with build or move on?

The Tacoma and Tundra recalls are different timelines. I was under the impression that the Tundra recall was over as well. Sean

That sounds like bad rear shocks or a busted upper shock mount. Do you get rattles or just the vibration? The stock leaf pack isnt doing you any favors either. I went through my deavers last week and found that the holes that the shackle bolts go into on the shackle and the holes at the front...

Has it done this the whole time you have owned the truck or just since you did the wheels? Sean

Have you serviced the rear drums? It could very well be that you have some rust or something built up on the drive flanges between the drum and hub or something along those lines. Sean

    Best 1st Gen Tundra's

I blew up my a340 (4 speed) but that was because I was jacking around with the line pressure. Entirely my fault. They have gotten really cheap to replace. I swapped my replacement a340 (2wd) for a 4wd trans for I think $300 shipped. I paid more than that for the replacement when I blew up the...

That's the one, you need to order a 33x55x13 sealed bearing for it as well, I ordered a VXB 6006 DU from amazon for $8.88 but a timken would probably last longer. Be aware that this will transmit more vibrations. Sean

Honestly rebuilding shocks isnt that hard, I have done three sets now and its a little intimidating at first since its new but they are really simple. The hendrix motorsports carrier fits. You need a 6006 rs (confirm that part number) bearing but it goes together nicely. Make sure the...

    The Tundra Supertool

Were they replaced with the oem cams or aftermarket ones? The aftermarket cams are made too small and wiggle around. Sean

Kevin I have not forgotten about the carrier bearing, I currently have the shaft on my welding table and will get it pulled tonight or tomorrow. Sean

Just a FYI, the deavers do sag over time and its about $100 to ship them and $100 to re-arch. I just got my rebuild kit for my G57s and it was $75 all in. Sean

    The Ghost Truck

Also look at your alignment cams, they look to fit on the loose side. Mine are like that as well and I am looking to make a replacement piece to fix it. You may be able to hear a clunk when turning the wheel while the truck is not moving. Sean

The other packs are (to the best of my knowledge) still based on the g57 pack with extra leafs added so they will have slightly different properties but its still pretty soft. I have not used timbrens so I can't comment on them. The stock pack is like 3 leaves with an overload while the...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

The stock leaf springs ride like garbage compared to a deaver pack. The catch is that you lose payload and they do sag. When I installed my G57 pack it made the truck feel like a Cadillac but you need stiffer shocks to keep it from bottoming out and really you probably should run airbags if you...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

Looks good, I have 2 40mm cans on my tire rack, the only down side is that the 40mm cans are not hinged, the lids come totally off so you need to secure one side if you want to be able to lock them. I wish the access cab bed was deep enough for the 60mm cans. Sean

The hendrix should work with the 4wd shaft, I can check tonight when I get home to be sure. You will need to make a custom mount for either of them. For the inland empire bearing I just cut the stock mount off and bolted directly to the cross member. Sean
