IMHO I would go the closed cell (low expansion) foam. Before anything, remove as much rust as possible, treat the metal (IE etch prime or whatnot...) and then get some cans of the DIY spray on bed liner in a can (Wally world). Then, once it has all been done, use the closed cell foam...
Gotta stop...
Haven,
You brought up a point that I hear often and so Please..Don't take this as directed at you, I'm just venting in general.
I hate that line..."they still think of old semi engines"... Just grates against my nerves. The misconception towards diesels has hardly, if ever been...
heehee and haha...
Leave it to us expo folks to make something like this difficult and require 18 pages of discussion! LOL!!! I'm gonna wait quietly now and see if I get to sing the "Jefferson's theme song...We're a movin' on up...!" LOL!
tuff call...
Kinda depends on your finances...And where your going with the jeeps build. If it were me and planning on keeping it fairly stock, I would simply hit the local Pull-A-Part yards and find a replacement 8.1/4. All you need is to find one with like gears...and you may even score one...
Thrirdsies??
Can you please add me 3rd in line? I have the moolah and can pp as soon the others decide if they want it or not. Would you be willing to hold it until around turkey day? I'd be happy to pay for it but I won't be making a run to AZ until around then. I have to go to visit...
Go Jeep!
IIRC there is a guy using a 48 or 49 Willys CJ2a for his expo rig on here, isn't there? So unless your running a WWII or old wooden wheel thats gonna be hard to beat! LOL!

Now THAT is some beautiful countryside! So how far from Grafenwoehr/Vilscht(sp??sorry) are you? I should be there by the 1st quarter of the year and we should really get together and do some wheeling! Thats if you don't mind wheeling with an "antique" Jeep CJ!
Nice work...
Been following along and enjoying, Great work!
I have one question about the hinge thingies...The part you welded to the trailer hangs down an extra couple inches...is this for a future purpose or some specific reason? Curious...

From the specs they appear to be at least "D" rated. The tread design really kinda reminds me of the MTR!?! And while the 16.5...

This is SERIOUSLY a very nice ride! All that he says about it is true and you won't be dissappointed! Good thing I can't get a loan....LOL...
I stumbled across something that has been a source of thought for me. It is a simple concept that I have found very handy. This led to me wondering what else may be out there that folks have found that have made their lives a little easier or more convient while camping. I'd be interested in...
Just...Damn.
Man,
Where was THIS when I was looking 3 months ago!?! I'd of happily given the extra grand over what I paid for mine for yours! GrumbleGrumbleGrump~!
Nice 8...really nice.
Did you have to trim at all to clear the 37s? I would imagine with the 2"YJ springs you didn't but I'm...
Actually....IIRC, your tax dollars paid for the one's that melted when the last RKG hit the MRAP. It was MY tax dollars that paid for the one's I'm looking at that I found in the dump....Or maybe it was my tax dollars that paid my paycheck? Hmm....I need to look into giving myself a raise..LOL
Whoopie!!!...
Man! This is like winning the lottery of information! Hahaha! Thanks everybody.
Best point taken is the use it don't just keep fixing it till I can't! LOL! I do spend a great deal of time tinkering and building since that is one of my outlets. But I can't imagine ever being bored...

What I'm talkin' 'bout...
Thanks a bunch Stumpy! Great intel! Funny, I posted similar questions on the Military Jeepers site and even the folks IN Germany haven't come close to this! Haha!!
