Looks like you guys are taking it slow, and that is cool. Slow lets you do all the cool things you are getting to do!
Enjoying your trip reports. Great job on all of it from planning to going to reporting!
Not sure if you will make it to Panama by April at your pace but if you do come see me...
Why can't you repair them? Hubs are about as easy to fix as changing spark plugs. Many people on this forum are highly educated and intelligent people, fixing something is not much harder than putting together a lego set. Go to Baja all you like and have the locals fix your truck. What did I say...
I am a little confused....
Why pay these guys to fix your truck? Do you not have the basic tools and skills needed to fix the truck yourself? Every repair I have seen in this trip report can be done with a small tool kit. Some of the more major repairs like the broken hub bolts could be fixed...
excatly! Thing is it is much easier to take your bikes somewhere than it is to put a truck on a trailer and tow it to say Moab. That is it for me, my rock crawler has to be towed since it has full hydraulic steering. Expensive toys are just that but man oh man they are fun when you get a chance...
Hey I enjoy all types of off-roading. I have a big gnarley expensive rock crawler. It is fun but doesn't get used enough since to go rock crawling is a drive for me. When the truck sits for months I often think, damn I got a lot of cahs tied up in this truck and it sits a lot. Then I take it out...
I am having some side bars made for my ARB bar, that will run from the ARB bar to the sliders. You might consider this, I am very sure it will strengthen up the ARB bar considerably.
I would like to suggest to anyone enjoying this trip report but most of all to the author of this trip report, read this;

They drove around the world in the 1980s in a stock Jeep. They are the only people (as far as I know) to cross the Darien Gap by...
My 04 gave me some problems like this. It was either the APS or the TPS. I replaced the entire TB assembly (only way you can get the sensors from Toyota) and my problem went away.
I would be looking for a bad ground or maybe a wire that has been grounding somewhere. I had another problem kind...
heh....I have no doubt you will have many stories to tell. At this point all I can give you for advice would be, get out of Acapulco as fast as possible without speeding! Oh and tell the cops all you have is plastic money, aka credit cards and ask them if they take a visa! :)
No worries. There...
I knew you had reasons just didn't know what they were! I did read you stayed here or there for a day or two but at this point in the trip report it really sounds like you are the end of your rope. You have gotten many of us on the edge of our seats so leaving us hanging and we (me) want to tell...
ya never know till you try.....
"not interested in rock crawling" is said often on this forum. That is all good but understand rock crawling is not really any different than doing mild trails in a fairly stock truck. It is all about driver skill, the line and so forth. Simply because it doesn't...
I am curious....why push so hard? Did you have a time schedule to keep or had to be out of the country by a certain day? When pushed to the limits, tired, hungry and just plain worn out people often make mistakes and end up hurt or worse!
Why not just set up camp in the road or next to it? Take...
Good choice on route and book. I drove that route last winter and used the same book. The book is outdated but still very very useful.
The west coast of Mexico is one of my favorite areas in all of Mexico. The Mex200 is a fantastic drive and you could spend a month or more just doing the...
