Well so far I have plans to get down to the Everglades for a long weekend in February. I want to go get my back country permits and check out the official OHV area. I'll probably get in some kayak fishing while I'm down there.
March brings on the Galapagos Islands for 2 weeks. It has been in my...
I like the superwinch Mike (outsidr) has a super old one on his landrover and it works great. We put 2 on the baja truck but unfortunetly or foutunetly did not get to use them but they lok sweet LOL!
the up side is that it looks like the camper it self is going to be salvagable. The bad news is it is alot of work to reinstall it on another tacoma. Hopefully they can make lemonade out of the situation and possibly upgrade to an 06+ tacoma to place the camper on. This should give them better...
you will be fine with a red top. I ran a red in my yota for 2 years and used the winch quite a bit on my dads property and on trails. I now run 2 yellow tops but I never had one issue witht he red top so I say go for it.
higher #'s mean thicker oil. THose thicker oils are good for engines that run hot or get worked in hot environments. In cold area's those thick oils do not flow as well thuse lowering lubrication performance. running the lowest # oil that works for your application is generally the best.

Yes cory from off road fever went with us and is doing a documentary dvd on the trip. He has a new dvd out that has some of the most awesome toyota and land rover footage I've seen on film yet!
yea that was my htought exactly. I have detailed pics of the ute even undernieth so I will use some of that as a model but I want it to "fit" my truck. I have already had several people tell me aluminum is dumb cause it won't hold up but I do not want the rig to wiegh a million pounds in the...
I thought about that but my feeling is that there is just to much real estate with a factory bed. To much paint and crap to worry about. I think an all aluminum side panel will be easier to maintain and less to worry about on the trail. I looked at the ute bed but they are so much wider then the...
I am keeping the same frame. The stock bed is obviously going away. I am going to replace it wil an aluminum flatbed. I will incorperate fold down removable sides and tailgate. I plan on making the side panels strong enough to use as sand and bridging ladders.
If you have a dcab then you will want the 882 for shure. In fact if you are running anything with a v-6 I would go the 882. especially if you think you will ever upgrade the stock bumper or add a winch to the front.
If your long term plans do not include a winch or custom bumper then 881 will...
for the most part yes. I will cut my cab up and fit the new section on. Plus do all the pre paint work. Then I will take it in to have it painted. I will recuit a few friends that are more knowledgable about some of the fine points of this type of swap, but since I have built several ground up...
sounds like you have a nice rig coming along! the brake plans you have sound interesting. I'll be following that mod closly! Good luck witht ht project hope all works outlike you plan!
my latest purchase
Well guys I have been talking about it for long enough. I got aline on one and luck has turned my way. I have a buddy bringing it down to me from ohio this feb. I will get started on the swap after I get back home from the Galapagos so it will be April before I get out the...
I'll answer some of this for mike. The best top topper on mhis chevy is actually for the 1500 which means it is to short for the 2500 bed. However by dumb luck it is just the wright length to incorperate the Wilco tire gate with a hi lift jack mount.
The wilco tire gate worked great. We were a...
