    Winch.... hitch winches vs. integrated

I vote integrated. better storage for the winch, no set up time which could make or break a recovery attempt if extracting a vehicle "on the edge" or stuck in a water crossing. Alos you do not loose precious bed or cab space to sotre it not to mention having to build something to seculy mount...

    Maxxis Big Horn MT

I have a 2.7 and 4.88 gears. I can tell you there is no way stock gears work with these tires. I do not think it would work with a 3.4 motor either. These tires are big for a stock ratio. The 4.88 are great but I have a stick. If I had an auto I would have to say that I would go 5.29 all days...

pics of the new tires mounted. After getting to drive on them aliitle more I am really liking them. They have really good road manners. I have always run BFG tires so switching brands really made me nervous.

Final pic with the new Maxxis 255/85/16 and enkei 16x7 wheels The spare mounted in factory location. Now I have a little wider stance aven though these tires are not as wide as my old 31x10.50 bfg tires. obviously due to rims. I have done the obvious pinch weld mods and so far have had...

Pro-Comp Mud Terrains - Anyone using?

Yea the buy three get one free is a standard thing for 4 wheel parts like every weekend. The problem is the 3 are so expensive that it ends up being about the same as any other 4 tires out there. Remember nothing is really free that is worth having. Basically buy 4 tires at a discount or buy 3...

    Maxxis Big Horn MT

Well it was time to go up in tire size. I decided after much debate on upgareding to a 16" wheel and stepping up to the 255/85/16 size. This was for better clearence and traction since my rig is mostly a trail rig. The tires arrived at my house and we got a quick wiegh in at 50.3 pounds. Then...

    tire balancing

So last night I got my 5 new maxxis 255 muds mounted. When I was at Mike Lokey's shop mounting them we decided to use Equal balancer to do the trick. The set up is really slick for installing them. There is a small canister with and air line hooked to one end. You pour in the equal andseal it up...

    tire advice?

Some pro's other then clearence are larger contact patch when aired down for better traction, slightly better wear due to less revolutions, looks cool! cons, higher unsprung wieght and rolling mass effecting mileage and drive train stress, more expense, higher center of gravity, additional body...

    tire advice?

The 255 will be fine if you do not mind a little trimming in the fender well area. If you do not want to do any mods they I would stay where you are. I do no think there are many options other then a swamper that offer a 265/80 profile instead of the 265/75 you have now. You other option would...

well there are a few variable but yes this is an easy job to do yourself. all the parts will be available at a napa or other auto store. Just don't skimp on pads and shoes. There are usually a couple of bolts and or pins to remove the front disc brake calipers. Then pop out the pads and heat...
