We have a 67 truck with a 240 and sometimes I catch myself pausing to make sure it is still running because it is so smooth! Our IDI on the other hand .... well....
I think my IDI will need a vacuum pump soon, I don't have a very hard pedal but that "grab" from power assisted brakes just doesn't seem to be there any more. Is that what you were experiencing?
Don't discredit the 6.9/ 7.3 IDI in your search... the simplicity and reliability more than make up for the lack of power.... just don't try pulling long grades at altitude and expect to maintain any speed lol
Sounds like fun on a van! The fuel bowl removal on our truck was about a 15 minute job but you can access everything easily from the front.... hope it goes well for you.
I just did this exact repair on our 96 7.3, the drivers side fuel line is accessible without removing that but I had to take a 9/16th wrench, cut the head off then weld the handle back on almost a 90 degree angle. It was very tedious trying to spin the first thread or so but then it just came...
Oh it was a diesel joke, I get it now.
I have a 96 F350 powerstroke and a 92 F350 IDI in the fleet so I should have gotten that one.... went right over my head.
that's the truth!
trying to troubleshoot a stumbling when under load, my gut says it's a weak coil or fuel related.... i may just replace the fuel pump to eliminate that and so i don't have to do it on the side of the road one day but this is a strange misfire/ stumble
got some new 245/75/16s and took it to work today, it actually made for a pleasant commute in! need to remove the stupid antenna then work on scraping the awful stripe around the roof
