MG Metalworks Radius Arm/Coil Spring Axle Conversion for E-series Vans

Would love to see your sway bar mounting pics when you have a chance Josh. On a related note, I installed a steering stabilizer. I haven't driven too much with it yet, but it does seem to dampen things up a bit.

Hey Chris - in the 5.4 4r75 vans, the transfer case sits directly below a floor support. Do you modify that floor support in any way (hammer, section) to be able to get the Tranny/TC combo level?

MG Metalworks Radius Arm/Coil Spring Axle Conversion for E-series Vans

I'll chime in a bit. I have about 1000 miles on my conversion so far. A good 1/3-1/2 of that was on snowy roads. I still have not installed a steering stabilizer nor a sway bar and it drives really well. It tracks perfectly straight. Rides really smoothly on the highway. It is a little bit...

Thanks Michael! It's the selector shaft one. Mine didn't come with a nut - just one of those puch-on type lock washers that loosely secures the bolt. I'll have to track a proper nut down.

Chris or anyone - Can you share share info on how you hook up the NP271 shift position switch? I can't find any schematics on the web. Also, how tight do you make the shifter pivot bolt? Seems like it needs to be a little loose to find the detents in the transfer case. Thanks in advance.

MG Metalworks Radius Arm/Coil Spring Axle Conversion for E-series Vans

I have to say I'm super pleased with the quality of the parts I got from MG. His service and responsiveness is fantastic as well. I have a text string with MG that has about 40 texts - he has made it so much easier by replying to questions/issues really quickly - usually within minutes. The...

Velcro sneakers made its first voyage down to the alignment shop on Friday. Got it back Monday. Drove it a few miles today. Still needs exhaust, but it feels good! Hey Chris - for this 5.4 exhaust did you basically leave the passenger side intact, then cut up the driver side reusing the cats, crossing over the tranny, hanging below the pass side then join the two with a wye just before the muffler? Thanks Steve

Pulled the tank to shorten and tranny to replace output shaft and tail housing. Rebuilding the 4r75E this weekend. Will order driveshafts tomorrow. Coming along... Here's why you have to pull the tranny on a 4r70/4r75: One on the left is the 2wd output shaft. It is the very first thing...

MG Metalworks Radius Arm/Coil Spring Axle Conversion for E-series Vans

Having lived in both a Sportsmobile and VW Westy, I can tell you that the Westy has far more headroom with the top down than the SMB does. Would love to see more headroom for stealth camping.

Sorry to hear that. I was kind of paranoid about having a bent axle as well. How did you determine it was bent? I couldn't figure out a reliable way to do that with the front axle. Hopefully the salvage yard will treat you right.
