Here is a picture of the calipers where you can see the parking brake adjustment brackets. I took this before we installed the axle. Hope that helps.
And a one after it was installed.
Unfortunately not with the Eldorado calipers. The parking brake brackets have to be found also, and you they are hard to find. The way the parking brake is designed, it has to be used every time you park, so it can stay adjusted properly.
The problem is going to be finding Eldorado calipers with all the parking brake brackets on them. And if you do find them, they are going to be expensive.
I rigged the stock e-brake cable to the eldorado bracketry. I have the stock NP241, so no driveline brake for me. If I ever get to the point where I change it over, I may look into it.
FYI, the rear disc swap is the same weather you are running 3/4 ton calipers or Caddy calipers. The calipers are the same size and interchangeable. That said, I would skip on the disk brake swap. I have them on my suburban, and am really leaning towards going back to drums.
Larry,
Do you have anymore pictures of your rear winch set up? I'm looking at modifying an existing rear bumper on my burb, but I'm not sure how to add some extra support with the fuel tank in the way. Also, what has your impression of the Smittybuilt winch been? I have a Warn M12000 out...
I agree with Larry 100%. I have the caddy disk w/ parking brake, and am not impressed at all. I've been told I can install a adjustable proportioning valve that may help, or a new master cylinder from a new chevy with 4 wheel disk. I'm probably going to install hydroboost and see if that helps...
Parts finally starting to accumulate for the build. (shocks and steering arm at still attached to my old suburban). Getting ready to start tearing it apart after Christmas.
Has anyone ever used nutserts to attach a roof rack to a vehicle? I currently am using sell tapping screws to attach the roof rack to my 89 Suburban, and am not happy with the results. Some of the screws have worked out, and it just doesn't seem all the secure. Someone suggested using nutserts...
I'd pass personally. I bought a 89 GMC Suburban that runs great, has full power and rear ac for $1500. Hell it came with a almost new set of BFG KTO mud terrains on it. The paint was murdered out, and the interior is red (but nice). Keep looking, there are deals to be had.
Link to said suburban...
