May sound crazy , but check for rodent damage. Seen it many times. Look for chewed wires under the hood and underneath the vehicle. Check near the top of the fuel tank and the wiring above the trans.
Don't know TDK. We have a Kascade and love it. I also have 2 friends that both have Hikers and I think they have been more than satisfied with them. You could put the young'uns in an ARB add on tent shelter on the side or RTT
Cant go wrong with a Taco. Drive it for a while then decide what you want to change or upgrade. In all honesty, that truck will likely do anything you want it to do as it comes from the factory. It is fun though to make a few mods here and there even if they're not "needed".
Set the bike up as comfortable as you can for you. Its not a LAZ BOY. Hit the trails and enjoy. Ride in whatever you are comfortable in. ALWAYS wear a helmet. Everything else is optional.
Just do it. You can have my old Yakima hitch rack if you want. I just bought a used KUAT. Ive had the Yakima for 15 years and it was given to me. Have to replace the hold down straps about once every year but they are cheap.
Finally. 27.5 or 29 would be fine for you. I would at least move into something with hydraulic brakes. And Id rather have a single sprocket in the front, however, that's easy enough to have changed. Or, as good as you are with your build stuff, you could probably do it yourself. I, on the other...
Don't see but one or two sets of these a year at the shop, BUT, they are ALWAYS chopped all to crap and noisy as heck. Some people swear by them. What I have seen, not experienced myself, but seen. I wouldn't have them. They look great, but as much as tires cost I'll stay with BFG.
We have a customer with Icon on a Taco that we installed. I don't recall what stage. Its nice stuff, but man, for a weekend warrior 2 or 3 trips a year, is it worth the expense? That's something only you can decide. If I remember right he spent maybe $3k on the lift itself. One of the guys here...
Vendors, we would like to have an Expo/Camping/Offroadish type event here on the dealership property. Interests? Suggestions? Possible attendees or organizers? We do 4 or 5 Tacomas and 4runners each month with just basic spacer lifts and Stealth Custom Series wheels. One of our guys here has a...
Bahaha. Won a trip to Hawaii years ago with a bunch of other Toyota Dealers. One of the guys was from Louisiana and was a hoot. He wore his crappy/mesh water shoes from the time we were on the plane over til back off the plane at home. We called him "water shoes" all week long. He didn't care a...
Sweet. Man I want to go there. What have you learned maybe about best time of year to go ? Also, pulling a SoCal trailer with 3rd gen runner. Any problem you might see getting the trailer over as well?
Aftermarket support is pretty good. Above all, make sure it engages 4wd properly AND 4wd low. Transfer case issues are not uncommon. Other than that, pretty trouble free.
