    Rango.....1942 Willys MB

It's now running well enough that I can get it off-road a bit more. With the holley it was more swearing than driving..... I have a slightly longer and flatter pitman arm coming. That should get me a little bit more steering throw with the D30 front. As long as I can get the tires into the...

AEV/Burnsville 3.0L Diesel JK Conversion Kit

You can custom build a radiator and intercooler for just about anything, but that add a LOT of cost. Using a factory parts makes it really simple and clean. Most of the Hemi conversions use a custom radiator so I wouldn't doubt that it would go that way. The intercooler adds a little bit of a...

AEV/Burnsville 3.0L Diesel JK Conversion Kit

I would think it should be about the same cost as the 6.4 hemi or so. As long as the engine is sold in the USA getting it shouldn't be too hard. You can generally order the entire engine as an assembly just like you can order the Hemi now. The hard parts to get will be a JK compatible diesel...

    Rango.....1942 Willys MB

Thanks! I drove it into work this morning. It was a little brisk at 38 degrees but honestly not THAT bad really. My commute to work doesn't go over 50mph so its not bad. The jeep is running better than it ever has. I still need to do some idle mixture tuning, but all in all it's LIGHT YEARS...

    Rango.....1942 Willys MB

More.... I changed the oil/filter. Fun. Then I adjusted my drag link a bit. I have come to the conclusion that my current 5" center to center pitman arm is a bit too short with the new steering box. I think I am going to try a stock CJ power steering pitman arm. It's suppose to be 5.5" center...

One other note. The Motorcraft 2bbl I used had a 5/16-18 thread for the air cleaner stud. The holley I had was 1/4-20. I changed to a stud with a wing nut and used a neoprene washer under a steel washer to help seal the carb plenum.

    Rango.....1942 Willys MB

Motorcraft 2bbl for the win! Today I rebuilt the used Motorcraft/Autolite 2bbl carb that I picked up a few months ago. I should have done it much sooner. It beats the holley 2bbl I had in every way. The rebuild kit was only about $14 and came with all new gaskets, power valve, accelerator...

AEV/Burnsville 3.0L Diesel JK Conversion Kit

They who? While the new Cummins 3.3 would make a good swap, it is in a legal grey area for emissions since it wasn't used in another on-highway vehicle. The 3.0 VM/Fiat diesel is already available in Europe since the 2011 model year in the Grand Cherokee. I'm fairly sure its manufactured in...

    Jeep versus Land Cruser ?

True for the sport, but as you add things like the rubicon package things start getting less basic. I have heard that it is possible to get a manual window JKU with some creative package options. I do agree that Jeep is trying, but what I would really like to see is a line item ordering system...

    Jeep versus Land Cruser ?

While I think the JK series is a pretty darn good vehicle it is lacking in the utility area. If you look at the 70 series its plain BASIC inside compared to the modern wrangler. Most American's would turn there noise up at that. For me, and a lot of people here, I think its a bonus to have a...

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

The other thing I want to do is eliminate the front freedom top panels if I make a new top.... I was thinking that the inside of the MDF female mold could be sprayed with epoxy to seal it? Then sand and buff it smooth......a few layers of wax and it should be good to go? I think the cnc'd...

I already have HEI on the engine. It was a nice improvement. I'm going to try the autolite 2bbl, I have had REALLY good luck with them in the past.

    Jeep JK8 Project

I would like to see that measurement too. From my other thread it should be about 66" with the front seats all the way rearward.

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

Quick question. Can you go directly to making the female mold out of something like cnc machined MDF? I'm thinking along the lines of a 'shallow' part like the side panels. How would you have to prep the MDF to pull a part from it?

    An Axe - Seriously?

I couldn't make it through the entire thread, but I didn't see it mentioned.... While an axe is generally a fairly dated tool it does a LOT of different jobs at a very minimal weight. If you know your going to be clearing tree's all day, it makes sense to take a chainsaw. If you are building...

Bumper Stingers. worth it or not?

I vote no.... Most stingers I see, especially the ones that just extend from the front or top of the bumper do not have enough structure to really hold up the weight of a vehicle trying to nose over. The other interesting thing that generally happens with a stinger sometimes is that when you...

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

I have my doubts about trying to mold the entire JK top in one piece since the factory top is made up of about 10 (?) pieces all glued together.

2012 JKU Sport Build - "AlternateLive" - The shotgun approach...

Yup, I wouldn't even say it out loud ;) Try and keep ALL weight added to a vehicle below the belt line ( top of the tub on a Jeep ). In VERY few instances can I justify having weight added above that line. Of any weight added to a vehicle that is probably the worst place to add it. Just saying...

    Mid-Frame Mounted Winch

I'm still going to do a mid-mount winch on my Dodge someday soon....maybe sooner now that my Willys is mostly done. The key to making the mid mount winch work is designing it so that you don't HAVE to re-rig it to pull front or back. The Foers Ibex Vector winch system does this. You always...
