Thanks for the input. I do think using the stock top could be used to mold, however, if I was going to go to the trouble to make a new top I would most likely want to change a few things......
-Smooth, non-ridged top panel. This way I can run a large thin film solar panel on top
-Build the top...
Just wondering......why the switch to 15" wheels and tires?
Is the rear seat at 60/40 setup? I would ditch the 60 side and build a mount for the fridge in that location. That leaves you with a 3-seater. The fridge weight would be forward, and you would have the entire rear cargo area...
I posted the part numbers for all the single parts a little bit back. The bolt-on version of the body panels where just cut up J8 body panels. If I was going to go with a bolt in version of the kit I would probably just do a door insert. The B-pillar on the 4-door makes a top a little harder.
Yup, Buick odd-fire. That is one of the main reasons I have stayed away from the TBI rabbit hole.
I think the autolite motorcraft 2100 will be fine once rebuilt and tuned a bit.
Update....
Picture for scale. You can also see the windshield is now attached. I need to make some rubber bumpers on the top to set the angle relative to the A-pillar since the windshield isn't exactly straight after 70 years.
I had a small disagreement with the rear output seal on the...
That same goes for basically ANY vehicle that is suppose to be off-road...jeep, landrover, toyota, whatever. The percentage of people that actually USE there vehicles to the percentage of vehicles produced and on the road is never that good.
I just got done with a week in moab where a good...
I'm trying to get away from full frame up rebuilds :) Its not that I don't enjoy it, but I am looking for something NOT a full frame up rebuild next time.
I kept my dodge as close to stock height as possible for this very reason. I went the route of sectioning the fenders to get the tire size I wanted. It worked out VERY well in the end in my opinion. I'm running basically a 39" tire and am able to daily drive, tow, haul, 'wheel, etc. I still also...
There are only so many D90s and D110s in the USA.
You can go order a new JK any day of the week.
I would like to see Jeep offer a more utilitarian version of the JK in the USA market ( and world wide for that matter ) but there capacity is already maxed at the plant to keep up with only the...
I started a thread here...

I was too busy gawking at all the cool stuff to get any decent pictures of my little flat fender. I about lost my voice talking to people about it however!
Diesel vehicle availability in the USA just plain sucks, especially in vehicles that most people would find a useful universal size.
With proper setup and NOT driving like a crazy american at 80+ on the Interstate 20+ mpg is very possible. My old 92 dodge with 300,000+ miles pushing a 6800+...
The habitat mod could work, for me I want the top as light as possible.
I was looking at the JK top a little more in depth. To me it looks like the top is made in multiple parts and then basically glued together? It looks like the panel where the side window is could perhaps be removed and a...
I was thinking about that the other day also. I think the major reason you don't see a 2nd stock tank is that there is no room for the exhaust pipe, and if you could squeeze the exhaust pipe in there its going to be very close to a plastic fuel tank.
