Easter JEEP Safari picture thread 2012

Yeah, you missed the part about it being a TON of work :) The rear doors would be the least of my worries with that one!

I don't think he needs it :) I would rather it be nice and low....... With the big tires it can be kinda deceptive. I bet he has close to 5-6" over the tire in the front. The rear, not so much.

Easter JEEP Safari picture thread 2012

If done right it would be 99% of what I am looking for. It would be a TON of work however. I would love to do one with the panel version of the FSJ. They really are not that light or small however. I do think the bodies are a touch less wide than my dodge, but not much. That vehicle has a CRAZY...

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

I'm picky, but not a hardcore loyalist to anything..... The tacoma has too big a rear overhang in my opinion...yeah, bobbing the bed is an option....more work I still think the 4-door JK converted thing is still WAY less work.....especially in the door insert version.

Easter JEEP Safari picture thread 2012

Since its a JEEP event I thought this would be the best place? Anyways, my album is here.... http://s125.photobucket.com/albums/p60/Metcalfphoto/easter%20jeep%20safari%202012/ Some thoughts..... Coolest Jeep at the event in my opinion ( for the 2nd year running! ). I saw it last year...

    Rango.....1942 Willys MB

I'll start another thread for the EJS pics..... I only had two lame pictures of my Willys at EJS. I got about 160 pics of other neater stuff.

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

The J8 program is trying to fill a niche in a market that doesn't really exist I guess. Most military vehicles are going the way of complete huge overkill....and everyone else just buys a 70 series land cruiser :) I think if they offered a utilitarian version of the long wheelbase J8 '3-door'...

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

Yeah, that vehicle is BIG....like fullsize truck big! I'm not saying it wouldn't be cool, but I think the overall length and possibly the departure angle would be a hindering for the kinda stuff I want to do. I did have a nice long chat with AEV about a few ideas, specifically my longing for a...

Yup, most swivel seats just wouldn't work in a smaller chassis like a jeep I don't think?

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

I'm honestly surprised that more of the jeep concept ideas are not 'stolen' by the aftermarket. I kinda wish they where. The front end on the J12 and Nukizer are very similar. They are basically just a new front end clip that bolts to the stock jeep mounting points. Something similar could be...

With the simple switch I have, the exciter wire and HEI wire are basically fed of the same post. It doesn't matter if they are y'd at the switch or at the HEI, they will still back feed. I'm going to try the diode and see if that works.

    Rango.....1942 Willys MB

I'm back from the EJS weekend! I had fun, I probably put about 50 miles on the Willys over the weekend running around looking at all the cool stuff... I think I about lost my voice answering peoples questions on the thing. It was kinda un-nerving to be looking at something and look over at the...

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

I am back from EJS, lots of new ideas.... I do think that a do everything vehicle is possible, but yes, there will always be a compromise of some kind. I guess you just have to feel comfortable with what direction you made the compromise in.... I think the FSJ thing is a decent idea, but with...

cool idea, thanks. I think for something in the older CJ line that would actually not be that bad :) For a new vehicle....probably not as comfortable as stock...

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

If they release the JK with a diesel I will find out.... If not, it would probably be a ways off. Maybe a used 2012 in a few years and swap a lot of other stuff out :) I'm pretty interested to see how a 5.7 VVT Hemi motor would do with the new 2012 automatic......and Powerwagon axles.....and...

    The Dakar Car

I was thinking about the aluminum top rollcage thing........ If you did make an aluminum top you could use tubing at the major 'corners' of the top to form a nice 'bend'. Then weld the aluminum plate sides to that tube skeleton. Even if you didn't use the tubes for a roll cage, tubes around 1"...

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

I'm just saying....if you WANTED to do it that way you could. Access to storage and access for people are two different things. The factory door is pretty heavy, bulky, and takes up a decent amount of space on the interior....just sayin' And, it would be my vehicle so I can do what I want! :)

Ways to Increase the Jeep JK Payload

Being able to carry the weight around for a few miles on the highway is TOTALLY different than being able to carry that weight over rough terrain for extended periods of time...... Interestingly the J8 still uses a semi-float ( C-clip! ) 35-spline rear axle, I think it was originally from the...

Need help... Have JKU, still lusting for Vanagon

That is a tough call. Are you more interested in hanging out or getting further off the trail? I'm going through much the same thing. My Dodge truck is too big to do the off-roading I want. I have started to look at the JK 4-door ( converted to 2-door long wheelbase ) for a do-everything type...
