I got mine from mcmaster carr. They’re die springs and come in nearly infinite rates and lengths. I guessed at a rate and will go by trial and error until I’m satisfied. They’re also pretty cheap
Ok so after some surgery to remove some of the packs from the larger modules, I have some more info. Each pack is 50 volts and contains 14 cells. So 4 cells in series would get me around 14v. I easily have enough to create a nice size battery bank.
Still not sure I want to do this and have to...
I finished the bumper prep and paint. Got it mounted yesterday. I painted it with SEM self etching primer and and SEM satin chip guard textured paint. Pretty happy with the finish. I will probably redo the rear bumper with the same stuff. I ordered a couple battery master switches, some military...
I love lizard skin. I have applied it to many race cars and fast street cars. Handles heat and noise quite well. Not terribly cheap though. I have heard of a DIY version where you mix up your own but haven't done that yet.
I did mine, right inline with the frame rails with 2 of the bolts on either side of each point. They are welded to the back plate that is also the winch mount and welded to the front surface that you see here.
If it never popped that 30a fuse then the battery was never accepting 30a. I think it's that simple. If for example you had a high load hooked to the aux batteries, like a winch, and you used the winch while the aux batteries were connected to the truck through that 30a circuit, it would blow at...
I have a big pile of lithium batteries from some newer nissan hybrids. Each module is 50v. 5 cells per module. Would it make sense to use these to build a battery bank? I could use a golf cart 48v to 12v converter for the output. What would be the best charger to utilize solar and alternator?
When I started my camper build, it was meant for a pickup truck. I had it mounted to the factory bed mount spots using urethane body mounts from Energy.
I redid the front bumper over the last few days. Otherwise not much lately. Once I clean the bumper up I will either paint it of have it powder coated.
I would say it depends on how the camper is built. If it's designed to take the torsional stress that the frame will apply to it when you flex the suspension off road, then it would be fine to hard mount it but if not, you should mount it on a pivoting or sprung subframe. Check out the sticky...
Just to add to this discussion, here are some pics of my truck flexed out. I measured diagonally from points on the cab to the back corners of the frame, while flat and while flexed. I had very minimal change of around 1/2" in either direction. One picture show the separation between the...
I know that diesels often have SAE bellhousing patterns but I don't know much about that. Maybe there are matches out there?
My initial intent with this thread was to use a 4BD in my S10 with 4wd. You have a good point about the side shifting, that would make it more difficult to use the Isuzu...
