Need Welding Advice - Concerned About Quality

I'm sorry that happened to you. Welders like that give us all a bad name. I'm not certified nor am I the best but I have my standards and I stick to them. I built my camper in a similar fashion (various aluminum square tubes) and I TIG welded all of it. No jig, just tight joint fit up and...

    Train horn

Don't do it. They're obnoxious and you rarely need even a normal car horn let alone a train horn.

    fastening to aluminum square tubing

Not if the fastener is tight enough or has other means of locking it like safety wire, cotter pins etc...

    fastening to aluminum square tubing

Generally self tapping screws are banned in my shop. I hate them for a number of reasons. Definitely go with the rivnuts.

    Performance improvements on 4d33...any experiences?

I’ve only messed with a few diesels but they like intercoolers for sure. The bigger exhaust will probably help too. An EGT gauge is important to have when you turn up a diesel.

NEVER QUIT Overland's Extreme Isuzu NPR Build & 4x4 Conversion

Sure thing man, any time. I should have the truck on the road soon and I am going to push to dry in the camper box this summer and try to use it some.

Definitely an intercooler if you don't already have one. Maybe water injection too.

NEVER QUIT Overland's Extreme Isuzu NPR Build & 4x4 Conversion

Oh I know... I saw the detailed list with prices. I'm just joking around. This will be an incredible machine. If I had anywhere near this budget, I would have finished mine a couple years ago.

NEVER QUIT Overland's Extreme Isuzu NPR Build & 4x4 Conversion

Looks good. Might want a front axle on that thing though. More lights too!

    Reliability of 4wd conversions

I am building an NPR 4wd conversion. See my build thread. The NPR is designed to handle a bunch of weight so it makes for a good platform frame wise. Your typical camper on an NPR with 4wd won't end up that heavy. From what I have seen, similar vehicles often weight around 12-14k when finished...

Insulated Window covers DIY or buy?

I would think just sewing reflectix in a sandwich with some nice looking cloth would be cheap and easy.

Glad to see you're building it. Your truck is awesome. Wish I had the budget for a new truck.

I searched but didn't come up with much. I've found plenty of them online from various sources but does anyone know of a one stop shop for all things slides? Thanks

NEVER QUIT Overland's Extreme Isuzu NPR Build & 4x4 Conversion

Definitely one hell of a build sheet. Needs a diesel though. :) It doesn't sound like cost is all that much of a concern on this build.

Hydronic Heat, Hot water, and Engine Pre-heating

That all looks good. To me the added heat exchangers and extra pump for engine coolant seem excessive. I understand your reasoning though. I just like to keep things simple. Same reason why I am doing manual valves in my system and in general, minimal computer control of anything. Having the...

    Material for fresh water tank

I built mine from 304SS. It's external and probably subject to hitting rocks and such at some point so I made it from 1/8" thick plate. The plate was also given to me by a friend so that was nice but I would have spent the money anyway. It's around 65 gallons I believe.

Attaching DIY camper direct to Tacoma frame.

If you look here https://www.facebook.com/pg/CoffeyFabrication/photos/?tab=album&album_id=730697497040147 you can see the camper frame before I skinned it. I basically just used universal urethane body mounts from Energy at all the points where the bed bolted to the frame.
